Vaughan's Kitchen includes:
- Cookery School set in an industrial kitchen in Devizes, Wiltshire, teaching adults, children and students in a wide ranging variety of courses that appeal to all ages and abilities. For students it may be preparation for university, gap year or living alone and for adults it may be for improving skills or learning new skills.
- Corporate events - we are familiar wit

h working with large and small organisations to help with promoting their businesses or helping with staff training. We cater for any event however big or small. From christenings, birthdays and funerals to weddings and anniversaries. Our food is different! We use our "naturally balanced approach" using local, seasonal and Fair Trade food - forget sausage rolls and quiche; we can do better than that!
- In the community & education. We have specialists on board who have worked in schools for many years - they are used to working with children from Reception through to sixth form and will tailor a package for your school, your needs and your budget.

Make an Artisan Easter Egg with a 'how did they do that?' vibe. This class is led by Amy Levin who is a classically trained professional chef. She has specialised in chocolate for over 20 years. She offers a nourishing experience of learning starting from wherever you are, in terms of knowledge and skill.

Who’s your point of contact and answers all your questions? If you made an enquiry, you would have had an e-mail (or a few!) from Jurgita. Often behind the scenes & giving the centre stage to Peter but just as important a cog at Vaughan’s Kitchen.

Having come to the UK from Lithuania, via Finland where she completed some post-graduate studies, her plan was to spend 6 months in the UK getting ready for Masters studies. That was in 2003... Peter swept her off her feet when she started working at The Healthy Life and Peter kept bringing freshly squeezed carrot juice he made at The Bistro across the road and then – life happened! They got married, Jurgita still got her Masters degree (but in Bath) and they are running Vaughan’s Kitchen as two inseparable partners – in life and at work.

Her main role is liaising with clients and suppliers and then organising, managing and leading the Front of House team at events. However, in small family business, there are lots of other balls to juggle: social media; accounts; payroll etc.

Her fantastic organisational skills, an eye for detail (wonky creased tablecloths be banished!) and excellent people skills help make sure that service side of your event runs smoothly. Favourite part of the wedding – seeing you walk down the isle; emotional strings get tugged every time🥹 And then, watching the dance floor erupting – nothing beats that feeling of satisfaction of everyone well fed, relaxed and looked after and job well done 💃

With two young sons to look after as well a ‘window of opportunity’ for own interests is slim. She enjoys the theatre, live music and, in particular, she loves to dance 💃

Most definitely not a morning person🤣 If given a choice first love is the seaside and then the woods. The power and force of nature is magic✨

NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK

Peter Vaughan has trained 10 apprentices in the 25 years he's been in business. Many are still in touch from time to time, and we love to hear from them. Not all have stayed in Hospitality & Catering, but it gave them a great introduction to the world of work and helped shape who they are today.

Kate Rigby, our latest apprentice, is now working as our Commis Chef and just about to complete her NVQ Level 3 qualification, after which she will spread her wings and further her skills and experience elsewhere.

Not only is it a great opportunity for youngsters to get top quality training but also for employers, in this day and age of really tight profit margins and shortage of suitable recruits, it is a chance to 'mould' an enthusiastic young person into the the sort pf employee that can make a positive contribution to your organisation.

Today’s weather may not have brought the temperature that often comes with the sunshine, but if you’re yearning for warmer days, we have just the thing for you!
Transport yourself to Spain or Morocco by simply stepping into the kitchen, surrounding yourself in smells & flavours and creating some beautifully sunny dishes😋

Preparing and cooking fish to perfection involves a number of skills, but with tips from an experienced chef who has spent time as a Poissonier (fish chef) in fine dining establishments, you too will be able to master this delicate but delicious ingredient.

🔥1st February - Asian Barbeque Pop-up Event
📌Venue: Dutch Barn, Owl Lodge, Forest Lane, Lacock SN15 2PN

Chef ‘Kate’ joined our team in 2020 as an apprentice and has steadily progressed to become a professionally trained chef. She has an enthusiastic interest in all cuisines and we have featured some of them through the pop-up dining experiences at The Dutch Barn.

Korean cuisine is one that really fascinates her, the reason being is that they use similar ingredients to Western cuisine but with very different culinary techniques & flavour combinations. If you are not a chilli lover, don't be alarmed, as the dishes will not be fiery. She’ll prepare a traditional Korean hot sauce that will be served along side all the dishes so everyone can enjoy the level of spiciness that suits them best.
