T U L I P S are my all time favourite flower! 🌷🌷

They’re such a happy flower! I can’t help but smile when I see them! The way they dance and look for the light, all their beautiful varieties…frilly edged ones, parrot ones, Lily and Peony Tulips and most of all I love their colours! There’s a Tulip for every colour palette from classic white, pale pastels, bright and vibrant, dark and moody and even two toned!

Half Acre Farm grows some stunning Tulips, so I couldn’t resist the pic of me raiding her Tulip beds!

On Saturday 8th June it is the first ever National Florist Day!

This day is to bring awareness to the industry, aimed at celebrating and promoting the remarkable contributions of the floral industry and the talented individuals who work within it. This is not just for the Florists but it's also for the wholesalers, floral assistants, students, delivery drivers, designers, tutors, flower farmers, anyone who works in this industry!

So, why did I want to become a Florist?
When I 14 years old my Grandad who worked as a clockmaker passed away and to celebrate his passion we had a Grandfather Clock made out of flowers, it was absolutely exceptional! As soon as I saw it I was amazed and wanted to learn how this talented Florist had created such a fabulous design using only flowers!

Fast forward a few (a lot!) years training at college and learning the craft working in several Florist shops in Derbyshire and in the Sheffield area, here I am! The proud owner of Flowers by Amy…Creating beautiful wedding flowers, meaningful funeral tributes, running some fabulous workshops and living my best floral life!

Delighted to have made it onto the first shortlist alongside so many other talented fellow Florists 🤩

It's taken longer than planned simply because the list of nominees was longer than expected! But the Selection Panel have now announced the final nominees being considered for the first National Florist Day Faces of Floristry. There's over 200 on the list ... now they have to whittle it down further to reach the final 100 .. we don't envy them their job. Join me for a fun morning at Birley Moor Garden Centre on Saturday 29th June at 10.30am where you will create your own gorgeous bouquet and have flowers to enjoy over the weekend.

Learn a new skill, flower care top tips and much more at this workshop, with a fabulous selection of fresh flowers and all the tools you need to make your own exquisite bouquet.

Places are limited so booking is essential. The cost of the workshop is £45 per person. A £15 booking fee is required to secure your place and the rest is payable on the day.

I wasn’t a winner this year but it was great to celebrate being a part of this wonderful industry with all the talented wedding suppliers in Yorkshire and the Midlands.

Have just heard I’ve been nominated as a Face of Floristry in the 2024 National Florist Day celebrations. This means I now have a chance to be one of the 100 chosen to represent the wonderful world of flowers when the day kicks off on June 8th.
