Having toured together since 1986 to packed concert halls all over the world, Aly Bain & Phil Cunningham have won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards – BEST DUO Award and been nominated in the Scottish Traditional Music Awards for ’Live Act of the Year’.

Aly was a founder member of the ‘Boys of the Lough’ and his passionate fiddle playing has also found its way onto recordings by the likes of Eddi Reader and Richard Thompson. He was responsible for launching ‘The Transatlantic Sessions’ TV series in which both he and Phil continue to feature.

Accordion player Phil has been named as one of Scotland’s 25 most influential people and his mastery of the instrument has led to him working with the likes of Mark Knopfler, James Taylor, Rosanne Cash and Midge Ure. In March 2023 they recorded along with the Transatlantic Sessions and Eric Clapton at Abbey Road studios.

The Godfather of children’s standup comedy, James Campbell, will be performing here at The Corn Hall on Saturday 3 May!

James Campbell, the internationally renowned and much-loved children’s comedian who pioneered the genre of comedy for kids, has announced his brand new live show, Comedy 4 Kids: Reducks!, which may include exploding penguins, seventeen ways to eat jam and songs to sing to the worms in your dog’s bottom.

James Campbell says: “This show is twice as funny as anything you’ve seen before so cover yourself in glue, roll around in glitter for five minutes and then come to the show shouting, “I’m a massive disco maggot!” until someone asks you to leave”.

Calling all guitar aficionados! We are thrilled to offer you a night of superb guitar music from two acclaimed virtuosos when Eduardo Martin & Ahmed Dickinson perform here at The Corn Hall on Saturday 12 April.

On an expansive tour of the UK and Ireland, Martin and Dickinson perform the music of their long-awaited album, ‘The Bridge’: a carefully curated compilation of Eduardo’s most alluring works for two guitars, where rock merges with son montunos; old Yoruba chants, feel-good rumbas and funk- boleros, with cinematic pieces sitting alongside Cuban tumbaos with slap bass.

Eduardo is one of the most-performed living guitar composers in the world, and together with Ahmed Dickinson has been doing short tours for the last 10 years which have been extremely well-received all around the UK, Europe and Latin America.

Spring sunshine abounds and we all have a spring in our step today. How about harnessing all this new season energy into creating something stunning for you and your home?

We are so thrilled to be working with the exceptionally talented Sarah from Sassy’s Floral Design to host a Spring / Easter Wreath Making Workshop here on Wednesday 2 April at 6pm.

Under the expert guidance of Sarah, over a couple of hours, you’ll create a beautiful and luxurious Easter or Spring themed wreath.

Come and enjoy a few hours of creative fun in a relaxed environment. All materials, tools, ribbons and decorations are included in the price plus you’ll enjoy a glass of fizz on arrival and nibbles.

On Saturday night we hosted Red Herring Theatre Company with their production of Patrick Hamilton's Rope. The production, directed by our very own General Manager Lee Johnson, was enjoyed by a small but perfectly formed audience and we're delighted to share some of the reviews.

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin Marshall for his fantastic write-up on Diss Community Noticeboard and we're thrilled to have given him such a great first experience of a play! We hope you'll come again, Kevin.

Going to see theatre can be a daunting prospect if you're not a regular theatre-goer but with so many great theatre companies out there, and so fascinating many stories to be told, a theatre show really can be a great night out!
