DORCHESTER'S SCHOOL READINESS EVENT
On Tuesday 25th November, a number of local first schools are coming together to host an event at Charminster Community Hall designed specifically for children and families who are due to start Reception in September 2026.

This free event offers the opportunity for families to experience a wide range of Reception activities with their children, develop their understanding of school life, and network with school and local authority staff. Local Food Links, who provide school lunches to the majority of Dorchester schools, will be offering food tasters and we will also have tea and coffee available.

Low-impact exercise class - spaces available.

Classes are held every Monday at 2pm (come along at 2.00 and we'll start moving at 2.10) at Charminster Community Hall. Cost is £5 per class on a pay-as-you-come basis, payable in cash at the start of each class.

Paracise is a wonderfully uplifting exercise class, set to fabulous music, aimed at improving and maintaining flexibility, strength and balance. It's beneficial for everyone, but especially those for whom classes at the gym are too much, perhaps due to age, injury or lack of fitness.

It's a 45 minute standing class (no floor work) where everyone works at their own pace (Coralie gives lots of options).

LiveWell Dorset will be delivering free NHS health checks at (input your venue/location) on (input the day, date and time) 🙂 If you've already been invited for an NHS Health Check by your GP or pharmacy, please do take up the offer and book your appointment with them.

An NHS health check is a free checkup on your cardiovascular health and can spot early signs of diabetes, heart disease or stroke.

If you are aged 40-74, do not have an existing cardiovascular condition, and have not had an NHS Health Check in the last 5 years- you could be eligible for a health check with LiveWell Dorset.

We are pleased to share that we have appointed a new Administration Officer for the Community Hall.

She will be supporting the day-to-day operations of the hall and assisting community members with bookings, events, and general enquiries. We are excited to have her on board and look forward to the positive contribution she will bring to our community.

🛑 Important Notice from Charminster Parish Council – Play Area Bins Removed 🛑

Charminster Parish Council would like to inform residents that the bins in the Charmister Farm play area have been temporarily removed. Unfortunately, a large amount of dog waste has been placed in these bins, creating a hygiene and safety concern for the children who use the park.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please be assured that we are working to install a new public bin outside the play area in the near future to provide a suitable location for waste disposal.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The safety and wellbeing of the children in our community is our top priority. 🌟

The NHS Health Check is a free check-up of your overall health. LiveWell Dorset is supporting local GPs and pharmacies to deliver these checks with a new mobile community service targeting people who are most at risk of developing health conditions.
