And so it begins. I hope it will look very different next year. So far I have dug out huge quantities of bamboo, planted 13 trees including the rare and wonderful hornbeam Rockhampton Red and made a plan. The house is upside down with downstairs upstairs. The garden will be upside down with a bit of grass at the bottom and a huge sweep of grasses and wild chums sweeping down from top left to centre and a narrow path dividing it from a massive bed of perennials. There will be a walkway structure to the left of the main beds and on the left will be rattled grass, spring bulbs and iris below new trees. Now I just need to take a few deep breaths!

End of the day from my messy desk…. The architect kept telling me I should ditch the Crittalls in favour of all singing and dancing triple glazed aluminium composite numbers. I’m not intending to follow his advice.

I had to collect one old shrub rose from the old field. This wonderful man had helped in the gardens for over 30 years and kindly came to add the required muscle. It was very hard work and the resulting rose just fitted in the car when bound tightly….. I hope it will like its new home. I would like to have dug up some of the other old shrubs but neither had the energy or the will at the end. There are some beauties still there, and some other wonders. All could be yours when the 10 acre field is sold in May. If you fancy a piece of beautiful Dorset adjoining my old garden message me and I’ll send you sale details

Impossible to resist watching and pals discussing exciting plans for his new /my old garden…. I’ll leave justification for the now totally tatty clematis sweet pea rose and vine covered rebar arch (!) but in response to questions from and whether the wild flower strips in the main lawn even worked here are a couple of snaps in June and July….. then there is the orchid filled wild garden and the yellow rattled and wild flower orchard. But they have all required a certain maintenance regime, it will be so interesting to see what appears this year!

Ever changing borrowed background for my new garden….. I’ve moved inland, leaving the sea for the woodlands and commons for now. Definitely a major change of landscape.
