At the end of this year, our caretaker, Eric Edser, is retiring. Eric has been part of the life of the village hall for all the 25 years the current village hall has existed.
Finding a suitable replacement for Eric will be difficult, but it's a task we need to undertake.
If you are interested, or know someone who might be interested in undertaking this rewarding job, please contact the Chairman, John Foskett on [email protected].
Full details are on the village hall website www.north-holmwood-village-hall.org.uk.
Please share this post with all your friends.
Thanks.

Time for a bit of an update ....

Over the summer some work has taken place to smarten up the outside appearance of the village hall - the Pre-School and Scouts entrance doors have been stripped down, renovated and refinished.

During September / October, work is taking place to revamp storage areas in and around the premises. In particular, work will take place over the academic 1/2 term (20th to 29th October) to create a brand new storage area along the north wall of the Old School Hal. This will be about 1 metre deep and will have no significant impact on the overall size f the hall.

Once the storage has been sorted out, the former Headmaster's Classroom which has been in use as partitioned storage for Scouts and Pre-School will be able to be cleared and the partitions removed.

This will open up a the opportunity for a whole new facility for the village hall and North Holmwood Village community. It will eventually be able to be operated as a self-contained facility, or integrated with the Old School Hall.

Thoughts about this new facility are, once gutted, to fit it out for usage as: an Arts Centre, Drop-In Centre, Music rehearsal facility a many other possibilities - have a look at the website for more on this.

Also - if you think this exciting new facility might be of interest to you in the future - please get in touch - we are very open to get involvement from as many people as possible with their ideas.

Parking on Spook Hill.
Sadly, some hall users are ignoring the notices on the fencing outside the hall and are parking cars on the hall side of Spook Hill. This narrows the road to one-way, blocks the pavement and is a major safety issue.
Spook Hill is a busy through road used by buses and lorries and by the Fire & Ambulance services located a few yards along the road. Under no circumstances should it be narrowed to one-way traffic by inconsiderate parking.
All hirers are being re-issued with notices to remind their attendees of this, and action will have to be taken if the problem persists.
