POV it’s the morning of your wedding, I’m sat in the bathroom of your bridal suite taking the flowers out of their big drinks, picking off any petals that bruised in transit and adding finishing ribbon to them before the big reveal.

We’re used to a few tears at this point, for most this is the first time they’ve held a bridal bouquet, and this one belongs to them! Suddenly everything feels very real, you’re getting married today and you’ll be carrying this bouquet down the aisle - oh and the flowers are beautiful!

Today is a year since I left my corporate job to do flowers a little more full time, which very quickly turned into completely full time! I’m not going to harp on about how proud of myself I am, even though I could, but I do just want to say a little thank you to all my amazing couples who make it possible for me to do what I love every day!

Featuring pink and white florals from B&Es day back in May - more of this gorgeous day to follow!

Floral meadow pew ends are the perfect way to dress Elmore’s gorgeous ceremony space, and with a bit of tweaking also look fantastic as table centres in the Gilly Flower, not too big or too small!

Looking forward to being back at Elmore flowering for N&J in a few weeks time!

“FLOWERS DIE, DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM”

Usually the people who say these things aren’t my clients, my couples understand the power and importance of florals as a part of their day, but for those who are sceptical; the florals aren’t the ‘focus’ of these photos capturing R & E’s beautiful day, but they sure do help make them…of course the photos do last a lifetime, but your florals are in all those photos too!

PERMANENT FLORAL INSTALLATIONS 🌺

When I’m not creating floral magic for weddings and events I love brining some magic to homes, salons, shops and restaurants in dried or faux florals!

Here are some shots by of an installation I created for new opening a few weeks ago!

DO’s and DON’Ts of repurposing flowers from your wedding!

DO move your ceremony table flowers to your top table for your wedding breakfast

DON’T forget to add some extra if you’re having a longer top table so there is interest all the way along instead of just in front of you two!

DON’T rely on being able to use pew ends as your ONLY table decor - sometimes these are damaged by guests or venue staff during the ceremony or while moving chairs post ceremony - same goes for bridesmaids bouquets, absolutely reuse them but not on their own!

DO reuse pew ends and bridesmaids bouquets on bars, cocktail tables, mantle pieces, cake tables, as part of more decor on your tables OR allow a little extra budget for your florist to fix any damages or add a few extras to make your centrepieces pop if they aren’t damaged!

DON’T plan florals attached to outdoor structures (fixed arbours etc) if you’d like them moved to your reception space as they are more complicated and time consuming to move!

DO ask your florist about freestanding options that will create the same impact in your outdoor ceremony space and move more simply between ceremony and reception

DON’T forget to plan where you’ll reuse your ceremony feature flowers - arches look great behind the top table, or around your wedding cake - smaller arrangements on plinths can be used in so many ways; table centres, cake table decor, mantelpieces, bars!

DO consult your florist to recommend the best spots for your florals to move to post-ceremony and if they can be split to move to multiple destinations!

Finishing touches ✨

There are lots of ways and I offer lots of options for tying off and finishing your bouquets and buttonholes including simple silk chiffon, botanically dyed luxury silks and personalised ribbons, this couple opted to use spare material from the bridesmaids dress alterations to ensure seamless colour matching and continuity in their finishing touches and it worked beautifully 🎀
