Glorious wedding weekend! We had it all!! Last week of peonies - just about! Plus sunflowers daisy larkspur garden roses... we also added in oxypentalum - beautiful all seasonal and the result... filled urns, floral arch, dressed railings, pedestal designs, potted herbs on the tables and trees! Result = very happy bride and groom! Very tired florist and helper but so happy with the results Independent Florist's UK Wedding Inspiration

I couldn't be more delighted and proud for my friend and old floristry tutor to have been given such an honour in today's proceedings... wonderful job Katherine 👏

I was humbled and honoured to have been asked to create a design for the funeral of our late Sovereign Lady Queen Elizabeth II. Along with another NAFAS colleague we travelled to use the provided flowers. I took my own foliage that carried symbolism and links to our Royal heritage. This included:
Oak and Beech for the Hearts of Oak and strength of love, for the trees that built Tudor ships and Royal Stewardship of forests.
Myrtle for the Victorian tradition onwards of its inclusion in Royal bridal bouquets.
Rosemary for remembrance.
Willow for sorrow and mourning.
Jasmine symbolising Gods gift.
Ivy for eternal life and fidelity.

What an incredibly touching tribute.

“At His Majesty The King’s request, the wreath contains flowers and foliage cut from the gardens of Buckingham Palace, Clarence House and Highgrove House.
This includes foliage chosen for its symbolism.
Rosemary for remembrance; Myrtle, the ancient symbol of a happy marriage, and cut from a plant that was grown from a sprig in Her Late Majesty’s wedding bouquet in 1947.
And English oak, which symbolizes the strength of love.
Also included are:
Scented Pelargoniums, garden roses, autumnal hydrangeas, sedum, dahlias, and scabious, all in shades of gold, pink and deep burgundy, with touches of white, to reflect the Royal Standard, on which it sits.
Again at His Majesty’s request, the wreath is made in a totally sustainable way, in a nest of Engish moss and oak branches, and without the use of floral foam.”
