Black Country Multicultural Day

Black Country Multicultural Day Multicultural day is to show how the Black Country has become culturally diverse in recent years In 2024 we will return to Halesowen.
(1)

Multicultural day is to show how the people of the Black Country have become cultural diverse in recent years. We know that there has been a significant rise of different ethnic mix who have moved into the Black Country since the industrial revolution. Multicultural Day is about making friends with people from different backgrounds and life experiences and to learn about their values and also to p

romote their own beliefs in the spirit of peace and harmony. This event will kindle local civic pride and confidence and has the potential to improve the economic environmental and social well-being of the Black Country residents. We would like to demonstrate the Black Country’s vibrant colourful past, present and future and the different backgrounds that have settled over the years and has made the Black Country as vibrant as it is today. Black Country Multicultural Day 2024 will be the fourth event following the success of the last 3 years in Dudley Town Centre and Halesowen. This event will bring people from the boroughs of Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton to come together into the heart of the Black Country to celebrate how diverse these borough's have become. Multicultural Day is about promoting understanding within our communities. We would like to celebrate our diversity and to ensure the Black Country has a positive reputation nationally and internationally. Want our services email: [email protected]

A BIT ABOUT THEM 👇

Black Country Foodbank helps vulnerable individuals and families in crisis through the provision of emergency food and toiletry supplies while a longer-term solution is developed. 🫶

Foodbanks should not be needed in a country as advanced as ours, however sadly they are; and The Black Country Foodbank do an amazing job to ensure that no one goes hungry. 🙌

Multicultural Day is about promoting understanding within our communities. We ask that everyone who performs at or attends the event spares a thought for those struggling to put food on the table for their own family. ❤️

There will be somewhere you can donate food on the day, and whatever you can spare will be appreciated. 🍞🍼🍏

With all that is happening in the world, we need to show LOVE, UNDERSTANDING and help to SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER. 🤝

Growing up, I faced challenges because of my color. I was racially bullied at school for being brown and because they said I smelt of curry. People couldn't understand how I could be Christian and a "p.ki." (their words not mine).

They didn't know my stepdad was white and faced challenges too in the 70's 80's and 90's for being in a mixed relationship with my mum.

52 years later and not married they were still together, showing you can overcome anything and to love thy neighbor, no matter what their color or religion they are. Multiculturalism lives and has lived for many of years.

DID YOU KNOW⁉️👀

The name 'THE Black Country' is linked to the South Staffordshire coal seam - also known as "the 30ft seam" and said to be the thickest layer of coal in Britain.

It comes to the surface in this area, making the soil BLACK.

During the Industrial Revolution, the heavy industry that mined the coal and used it in foundries and steel mills also turned the air and buildings black. This added to the notion of the Black Country. 🖤🤍❤️

And how about this for a shoutout...

Acclaimed fantasy author JRR Tolkien used the Black Country as the basis for Mordor in the Lord of the Rings, with Mordor meaning ‘black land.’ 😎

In his stories, this area was ravaged by industry when the wizard Saruman cut down the trees and dug deep pits as he forged weapons and built an army. The influences of Black Country industrialisation on Tolkien, who was brought up in the West Midlands, are obvious. 💯
