Coconut our curly hair tarantula has had another successful moult!

As they get older the moulting process of shedding thier old exoskeleton can take longer, Coconut had us worrying as this one was taking forever! She had shut herself in her burrow for weeks with no signs of life.

I had to dig her out and wake her up to feed and ofcourse take this pic of her super fluffy self!!!!

A few feeds and she will be back at work in no time!!

If you want to meet this bundle of cuteness along with other amazing exotic animals simply message us here on the off the scale experiences face book page to find out what we have on offer 😊

Happy World Bee Day, everyone! 🐝🍯

Today, we're buzzing with excitement for these incredible, tiny powerhouses that do so much for our planet! From helping our favourite fruits and veggies grow to making the world a more beautiful place with vibrant flowers, bees are true superstars.

So, on this special day, let's give a huge round of applause (or maybe a gentle hum) to our fuzzy, flying friends! What's your favourite thing about bees? Let us know in the comments!

Here are a few fun ways you can celebrate today:

🐝Plant some bee-friendly flowers! Even a small pot on a balcony can make a difference.

🐝Support local beekeepers! Treat yourself to some delicious local honey.

🐝Spread the word! Share some bee-facts with your friends and family.

🐝Just appreciate them! Take a moment to admire a bee at work if you see one (from a safe distance, of course!).

Let's make every day a little sweeter for our bees!

Meet Hunter the Burmese Python here are some cool facts about hunter!

**Cool Camouflage Clothes!** These snakes have amazing patterns on their skin, like brown and tan blotches. It's like wearing camouflage to hide in the jungle and play hide-and-seek! * **Jungle Explorers!**

**Lots and Lots of Baby Snakes!** Mummy Burmese pythons can lay a HUGE bunch of eggs, sometimes more than you have toys! She curls all around them to keep them warm, like a cozy blanket.

**Mostly Gentle Giants!** Even though they're big and strong, Burmese pythons are often quite calm, especially if they've been around people since they were little.

**Amazing Swimmers!** These big snakes love the water and are excellent swimmers! They can glide through rivers and lakes like super speedy water ninjas.

**Growing Big and Strong!** Just like you grow bigger and stronger as you eat your veggies, Burmese pythons grow bigger and stronger as they eat their meals. Some can become real giants!

Meet Shelly!

Our yellow bellied slider

🐢They're like mini ninjas in the water! These turtles are super speedy swimmers and can hold their breath for a surprisingly long time underwater. Imagine being able to stay under for minutes without coming up for air!

🐢That bright yellow colour on the bottom of their shell helps them blend in with the sunny, yellowish bottoms of ponds and streams. This camouflage helps them hide from sneaky predators swimming below! The yellow belly might also help them regulate their body temperature!

🐢They're sunbathing superstars! You'll often see them basking on logs or rocks. They do this to warm up their bodies because they're cold-blooded, just like lizards and snakes. It's like they're charging their batteries in the sun!

🐢They have a secret weapon... their smell! When they feel threatened, young yellow-bellied sliders can release a stinky odor to scare away predators. Talk about a smelly surprise!

🐢They change their diet as they grow up! When they're little, they eat mostly insects and small fish. But as they get bigger, they become more vegetarian and munch on plants and algae. It's like their taste buds evolve!

🐢Their shells are like their own personal homes! The shell is actually part of their skeleton and grows with them. It protects them from danger and gives them a safe place to hide.

🐢You can tell their age by the rings on their shell! Just like counting the rings on a tree, you can sometimes get an idea of how old a yellow-bellied slider is by looking at the growth rings on their shell. Each ring usually represents a year of growth.

Yellow-bellied sliders are definitely more than just your average turtle! If you would love to meet Shelly why not take advantage of our current offer! Send us a message today

Get ready for some cool facts about the curly hair tarantula (scientific name - tliltocatl albopilosus) that will make your hair stand on end (in a good way!):

🕷️They're like little fluffy clouds! Curly hair tarantulas have these amazing, long, golden-bronze hairs all over their bodies and legs. It makes them look super fuzzy and almost cuddly (but remember, look don't touch!).

🕷️Slow and steady wins the race: Unlike some speedy spiders, curly hair tarantulas are pretty chill. They like to take their time exploring their surroundings.

🕷️They have a secret weapon (but it's not venomous)! When they feel threatened, they can actually flick some of those curly hairs off their abdomen! These hairs are irritating if they get in the eyes or on the skin of other animals (or curious humans), acting like a little itchy defense.

🕷️They're not picky eaters: Curly hair tarantulas enjoy munching on insects like crickets, roaches wax worms and sometimes even pinky mice or a frog! They use their strong fangs to grab their food.

🕷️Girls live much longer than boys: Female curly hair tarantulas can live for a surprisingly long time, sometimes even up to 20 years! The males, on the other hand, usually live for a much shorter time, maybe only a few years.

🕷️They come from sunny places! These cool spiders are native to the rainforests of Costa Rica and Nicaragua in Central America. Imagine living in such a lush, green place!

🕷️They have eight eyes, but they don't see very well! Even though they have lots of eyes, their eyesight isn't great. They mostly rely on feeling vibrations and changes in their environment to know what's going on around them.

Curly hair tarantulas are definitely interesting creatures! If this is something you would love to learn more about and even meet, drop us a message!

Meet Mr Nubbins

Did you know?!

🦎 The name "bearded dragon" refers to the spiky pouch under their chin, which can puff up and darken when they feel threatened, stressed, or excited, resembling a beard.

🦎 They are native to the arid and semi-arid regions of Australia.

🦎The most common species kept as a pet is the central or inland bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps). There are several other species within the Pogona genus.

🦎In the wild, they can live up to 10 years, while in captivity, with proper care, they can live for 7 to 15 years.

🦎 Bearded dragons can grow up to 18 to 24 inches long, with their tail making up about half of their length.(Excluding Mr Nubbins of course, as he only has a nub for a tail!!)

🦎They can run surprisingly fast on their hind legs when they need to.

🦎Bearded dragons can collect water droplets on their heads at certain angles, which then run down to their mouths for drinking.

Want a hands-on experience and even more incredible bearded dragon insights? Get in touch to schedule a visit! We're available for a range of events, including educational school visits and fun-filled birthday celebrations for all ages.
