I'm excited to share that Glasgow has been "provisionally" booked for Horror Con Scotland 2025! This update brings with it a wave of hope, but also necessitates a frank conversation about what lies ahead for our event.
Horror Con Scotland was born from a vision to fill a void I saw in our country - a celebration of horror that Scotland was distinctly missing. It's not just an event; it's a platform to showcase the incredible talent we have here, with aspirations to create long-term jobs and, possibly, nurture an entire industry around our shared passion for horror and the arts.
As we look forward to 2025, it's crucial to acknowledge the personal and financial risks involved in bringing this vision to life. Organising Horror Con Scotland is a solo endeavor with no financial backing. This means the stakes are *incredibly* high, with potential life changing consequences. But the belief I have in this community and event is why I'm taking this risk.
Here's how you can help make sure this goes the good way and not the other way:
Advance Ticket Purchases:
Early support through ticket purchases is invaluable. It provides a foundation for planning and ensures we can create an event that meets our collective expectations. A lack of early interest makes it challenging to gauge the necessary number of staff and other logistical details. It could also see you turned away at the door if tickets are sold out/we reach planned for capacity.
Referral Program:
Join our referral program and help spread the word. This not only supports the event financially but also builds our community, making the event more vibrant and inclusive. You make money too!
Sponsorship Opportunities:
We invite people and businesses to explore our sponsorship packages. This is a unique chance to support a pioneering event (ran by a double award winning business) and connect with a passionate audience, contributing to the growth of horror culture in Scotland. Feel free to tag or share with potential sponsors.
Social Media Engagement:
Simple actions like liking and sharing our posts can have a tremendous impact. By amplifying our reach, you help attract more attendees and potential sponsors, further securing the event's success.
Importantly, Horror Con Scotland is designed to be an inclusive event. We are planning multiple rooms to cater to varied interests and comfort levels, including a relaxed area - a feature I felt was notably absent from other large events.
The ambition behind Horror Con Scotland goes beyond a single event. It's a stepping stone towards creating a sustainable ecosystem that supports artists, writers, filmmakers, and enthusiasts in the horror genre. This event is an opportunity to not only celebrate our shared passion but also to lay the groundwork for long-term opportunities and industry growth in Scotland.
Your early support, whether through ticket purchases, participation in our referral program, engagement with sponsors, or simply by spreading the word on social media, is crucial.
With heartfelt thanks and anticipation,
Laura :)
