Not every photograph that I show to you will be perfect. Not in the traditional sense anyway. When I first started out in photography you would never have shown clients their baby yawning or stretching or making any kind of funny face.
But it’s those natural photos that I really love.

Do you have family Christmas traditions?

When you have your own children it’s a great time to either start new family traditions or carry on old ones from your childhood.

I didn’t ever have a stocking when I was little. We put up a pillowcase on Christmas Eve in the hope that Santa would fill it. Always downstairs, never in our bedroom.

When I had my own babies I started new traditions. The cinema late on Christmas Eve and then home for new pyjamas before bed.
Stockings and a Santa sack were hung by the tree on Christmas Eve and no one went downstairs on Christmas morning went downstairs until I’d checked that Santa had been.

I don’t do Christmas photo sessions BUT that doesn’t mean that my tiny clients miss out on Christmas cheer. During a newborn or older baby photoshoot, I can create a Christmassy picture.

Has your baby missed the boat?

I’m meaning did they miss out on a newborn photoshoot?

I can think of a zillion reasons as to why you didn’t have professional photos of your tiny newborn. Maybe you didn’t know it was a thing ( to have your baby photographed at just a few days old)….perhaps you or your little one needed some extra medical care after their birth…..getting feeding established took priority over everything….or you could just have been exhausted and overwhelmed and the thought of a photograph my session was the last thing on your mind…..

This doesn’t mean that your baby has to miss out. I simply adore the older baby stage when they have grown chubby cheeks and tummy rolls and big eyes an adorable personality….

Bring me your baby when they are older and I can promise you photos that will melt your heart.

Obsessed by 6 day old Bodhi.

This little bub’s first trip out of his house was to have his newborn photoshoot taken at my studio.

It’s such an honour to be able to meet and photograph such a fresh newborn.

I adore my job, it’s lovely to see all the tiny babies, but what’s more is I love being able to give priceless memories to a family and a new generation.

Maybe one day, when this little boy is my age, he’ll be showing his own grandchildren these pictures and seeing if they look like he did when he was just born.

What would you do if your partner brought home a new partner? And told that you have to love and adore this new partner as much as they do. Your whole family is going to come and visit this new partner and bring them presents (some thoughtful new might bring you a present too…but that’s not really the point)
And you’re told that this new partner is staying forever and you have to use gentle hands around them. Well, I know where I would tell them to stick their gentle hands!

Do you see the analogy?

Bringing a new baby into your family isn’t always the easiest for your 1st child. Their whole life has been turned upside down and they will be filled with mixed emotions towards their new baby brother or sister. Some siblings take to a newborn like a duck to water and some don’t. I told my Mum to take my sister back to the hospital (I now adore her) The good news is that after a short time, they won’t even remember a time without their new sibling and the family harmony that you dreamed about will last a lifetime.

I am very mindful of this when I am doing a sibling photoshoot. The older sibling needs to feel very special and their feelings are more important than anything.

Broughty Ferry Christmas Lights Switch On has welcomed in the Christmas season.

I hope you all had amazing time last night, making memories with your wee ones.

I can vividly remember being taken out in the dark to see the Christmas lights in Glasgow. We didn’t actually get out of the car….nothing like the amazing scenes in Brook Street yesterday evening…. just a few circuits of George Square and home for hot chocolate, but I can still remember the excitement that I felt.

I love to create timeless, Scandi-style winter and Christmas photos. I found the perfect reindeer toy at Smartie Pants.

Time really does fly by.
It’s been nearly 4 years since I photographed baby Harry. He came back to visit me at the Mabel & Møøse studio in Monifieth and was bursting with excitement to show me his new baby brother.
It’s quite incredible to think that just a few years ago he was snuggled on my beanbag and now he’s looking forward to his 4th birthday and a visit from Santa.
I can’t wait to share the photos from his baby brother’s sibling photoshoot.

This 4 month stage is far too precious not to document.

I had such a lovely Sunday. I had a wonderful meal at Gleneagles with my husband. The food was delicious but, almost more importantly, the staff in The Strathearn Restaurant made us feel very special.
When you visit my studio I want you to feel relaxed and looked after. Having your baby’s newborn photos takes is such a milestone and I want to make your memories incredible.
