A fabulous meeting with my book graphic designer Lucy of who totally gets 8d Press and what we're about. She worked on LUCENT for us. Now, with ALONE, JOURNEYS INSIDE THE SOLO LIFE, nearing completion, she's going to work her magic on this amazing book filled with the stories of EIGHT TALENTED SCOTTISH WRITERS, a promised FOREWORD by stellar Scottish Crime Writer Val McDermid and a promised INTRODUCTION by Chris Creegan, Chair of SAMH, Scotland’s national mental health charity.

A world-famous Scottish novelist - beyond famous - so loved, so globally famous - has agreed with much enthusiasm to write the FOREWORD to our next book - ALONE - JOURNEYS INSIDE THE SOLO LIFE.

We love her, took a chance and wrote to her publishing company to ask her and SHE HAS AGREED!!

I will NOT name her until just before book launch day, but needless to say she will be invited to the launch of this amazing anthology.

Scotland is the most amazing country. We support each other and want to see each other succeed. We're THRILLED and I know the eight amazingly talented authors in our anthology will be too.

A chocolate wrapper. This little Union Jack flag fills me with strange emotion; love, hate, fear, loathing, nostalgia, childhood anxiety, disloyalty, weird watered-down pride, belonging, historic loathing. Oh well, as a writer I think WAY TOO MUCH!!! The milk chocolate this weird flag covered was nice too. Unwrapped, in the mouth, in the bin.

Have asked a world-famous Scottish novelist to write a foreword for ALONE, jouneys inside the solo life. I love her and her work, so she was my first choice.

We're moving to Wordpress within the next couple of months, so our website will look and feel very different. It's time for a refresh and I have taught myself Wordpress & UX builder and have built some cracking websites. New skills. Future-proofing. Loving Wordpress. My greatest love is books. These beautiful objects, bound around paper, in different shapes and sizes, with their unique scent, make me feel CALM, REAL, NORMAL, IN TUNE with myself, GRATEFUL, IN AWE, HAPPY, PROTECTED, SAFE, AT PEACE. A thousand words could never describe the feeling BOOKS give me. FULL OF SECRETS, DOORS TO OTHER WORLDS. HAPPINESS, SADNESS, JOY, LOVE, ANGER. Better than any drug in the world (not that I have tried those things), better than s*x, better than family, better than anything. And here's one I made earlier - a novel written by me. 30,000 copies sold, a former best seller. GRATITUDE.

D.H Lawrence wrote erotica in the first two decades of the 20th century, so did Henry Miller, so did Anais Nin. They all self-published their work, had their fiction printed in Europe, then distributed it to their friends and colleagues. All of them got banned, until all of them achieved great fame posthumously.

Bookshops won't stock little.black.books because it's EROTICA. It seems we have regressed and women's s*xual desires are deemed to be unimportant to be of any worth to the general reading public.

There is a place for EROTICA in literature, just as the European writers of yore have shown us.

little.black.books is now publishing NUMBER 3, by Parisian Scottish writer Lenox Macauley. Her piece entitled THE TUTOR will be out shortly and for sale at www.8dpress.co.uk

little.black.books cover is going to the printer next week and I am going to watch it be printed. Am so excited. My nerdiness is totally on - the chance to be standing in a printers - Barr Printers Glenrothes, watching the machines running and my designs flopping out onto a tray after being loaded up with ink - clever machines. Am so excited.

Then with covers, it's down to me to finish the interior designs on Publisher for this outrageously wonderful, soul-filling project, little.black.books - NUMBER 1 for December 2021, then NUMBER 2 for January 2022.
