Does your box (Buxus sempervirens) hedging or topiary look like this?! A robust alternative, unaffected by box blight or box moth, is Ilex crenata - a slow-growing, evergreen shrub which is compact and particularly suited to shaping. Another excellent substitute is Euonymous japonicus 'Green Spire' - brilliant for low hedging and easily clipped to shape with bright green crowded leaves. Get ready for the autumn planting season. Looking for a new home is our feature plant this week which is a stunning Hydrangea Paniculata 'Limelight' standard. At around 160cm tall, this richly flowering panicle Hydrangea makes beautiful flowers 15-30cm that will open in June and start with a lime/cream white colour and turn into softly pink coloured flowers at the end of the summer.
