So you've found a florist you like - time to book yourself in for a floral consultation! Here's a few tips on what you'll discuss and what might be helpful to know prior to your appointment:
1. What's your inspiration? I always recommend that my clients start their own Pinterest board dedicated to their event. Are there any bouquets you've seen that you've really loved, any colour schemes that shout at at you? Though we will obviously collaborate on a unique and bespoke design together, it can be helpful to have some jumping off points to get your vision across.
2. What is your budget? It can be really helpful to your florist - and to you - to have a sense of what you are able to allocate to florals. Being open and honest about your budget allows your florist to make suggestions, adapt designs, and give you a realistic idea of what floral magic we can create for you. We aren't out to rip you off! We want to create the best, most beautiful displays for you and our skill set includes adapting to suit different budgets.
3. Have an idea of your favourite flowers you'd love the incorporate but be open to variations. If you're a fiend for peonies but your wedding is the middle of February, chances are they won't be available, or will incur a large cost. Your florist can recommend substitutions based on seasonal availability. For example, double-tulips in winter can be a great alternative to peonies with their dramatic and blousey effect. So definitely have some varieties in mind, but know that flexibility is often needed when dealing with a completely natural product.
4. Be yourself and bring along all your unique tastes, quirks and whatever it is that makes you you! Part of our job is to get a sense of you as an individual - your style, personality, and overall vibe - and inject it into your designs. So don't worry about what's trendy or what you think wedding flowers 'should' look like - it's your chance to really lean into whatever it is that makes you tick and
