ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END.
After a recent stay in hospital I came to the difficult decision of calling it a day at Amethyst Weddings HQ. There are only so many setbacks, disappointments, a cost of living crisis as well as fall out from COVID lockdowns that a small business like mine can bear. A business doesn't / can't run on fresh air alone. The wedding industry just wasn't ready for my vegan eco-friendly wedding revolution. I will continue my vegan and eco crusade at home and within my local vegan community. Thank you & goodbye!!

Last month our family had a break in France for my hubbies 50th birthday. It was a beautiful gite and fabulous spot in the French countryside. 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷 Of course my body had other ideas and I was poorly all week. On return home I was admitted to hospital. 🏥 I have pneumonia!! Home now with a bagful of antibiotics and strict orders to take it easy.💜
Having had quite a while to think things ( life, the universe and everything) through, over, under, inside and out I think that the time is right to close the doors at Amethyst Weddings. The last 4 years have been upsetting, traumatic and disheartening and with my current health issues I need to step away from the helter-skelter.

I'M ON THE FENCE ABOUT WEDDING FAVOURS. My view is IF you are watching the pennies then nobody will notice if they have a favour or not. Don't feel pressured to provide anything. After all you are inviting people to celebrate with you and more often than not, you'll be supplying CAKE!!!!
BUT if you're looking for vegan and planet-friendly options you'll be spoilt for choice on my blog. So whether you opt for edible favours or bee-friendly seed bombs you'll find your perfect wedding favour on this blog. Link in the first comment!!

The best piece of advice I can give a couple is......

There is no right or wrong way to plan your wedding. Just do it your way.

So if you don't want a church wedding – guess what? You don't have to have one.

If you don't want to get married at a licensed venue – then don't!!!

All of the ceremonies in these photos where celebrant led, a unique wedding written and created with you – for you. There won't be a dry eye in the house/ garden/ yurt/ tipee!!!

Because let's be honest, we didn't come for the cake. 🎂 We came to celebrate love, to share in joy, to witness promises made and sealed with a kiss. 💋💖 We came to cheer, to laugh, to cry happy tears. We came to be part of a story that's just beginning.

So let's raise a glass 🥂 to the beautiful journey that lies ahead. Because in the end, it's not about the cake, it's about the couple.

You are so going to wish you had smelly vision. My newest vegan purchase - wax melts from 😍😍 You could smell them before I opened the box. Hope the delivery guy appreciated the nice smells in his car/ van.

Life really does throw you a lot of curve balls and we don't always start equipped with the right techniques and coping strategies. I recently lost a school friend very suddenly and very unexpectedly, at the age of 49 this has really tested my coping strategies but I know that I will manage and I will learn new techniques along the way. I'm open to learning. It won't stop me loving and giving to those around me but it has made me realise I need to have more fun and do more of the things I want to do in life. The best lesson from these kinds of "life events" is that life does go on and it's how you deal with it that is key. I can now go forward and use my personal experience to continue supporting and encouraging my fabulous wedding couples safe in the knowledge they will have the best wedding day and the day that they deserve.
I am now booking weddings for 2025 but don't now have availability for July 2025 as I've blocked the time out to spend time with a friend of nearly 40 years making memories for our 50th birthdays. YOU are only 50 once!!!!

As we near the end of Mental Health Awareness month I wanted to share this new blog with you. I was inspired to write as I know how planning a wedding can affect your mental health even if you haven't any underlying anxiety and depression. It can be a VERY stressful process and I hope that my advice in this blog will help at least one couple during their wedding planning journey. I am not an expert in a professional capacity BUT I have had my own issues over the last 20+ years and as an experienced wedding planner I know only too well how stress can occur during your wedding planning.

I took a trip down memory lane last week. I had the pleasure of visiting Richard and his team at to view their ceremony spaces. As a young girl, I remember visiting Broadlands with my family, so it holds some fabulous memories. Including seeing Diana and Charles on a visit to plant a commerative tree. A beautiful backdrop for wedding photos.
