A HUGE Thank You And An Emotional Goodbye... 🎩

Tam Shepherd's Trick Shop in Glasgow closed it's doors for the last time this past Saturday.
Tam Shepherd's was opened in 1886 - making it 138 years old - and in those 138 years; the tiny little premises on Queen Street in Glasgow has done more for magic in Scotland (and therefore the world!) than anyone could possibly imagine.

I bought my first "proper" magic trick in there at age 15 (2009). I was attending the Scottish Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green with my high school pipe band (I was a drummer!) and I snuck away to Queen Street - an adventure i'd been planning for months.
When I got there, I was greeted by Roy Walton himself behind the counter who showed me a couple of small tricks and ultimately sold me a mirage deck. This was absolutely the start of my real, lasting fascination with magic and the mystery arts. ✨

Every single Scottish magician I know has their own Tam Shepherd's story and owes a lot to the existence of this place.
It is without a doubt that without Tam Shepherd's; there would be no Wonder & Co. and so while we owe the Walton family a lot; we can only hope to do what we can to keep the wonder of a brick-and-mortar magic shop alive in Scotland and carry a little of the legacy left behind.

Last weekend Wonder & Co. had the pleasure of exhibiting at the Scottish Conjurer's Association's Centenery Celebration weekend in Glasgow! 💯🍾

Cameron was a member of the SCA from 2012-2015 and it was such a pleasure to contribute to their 100 year celebrations - both by holding a dealers' stand and by hosting the cabaret show on the Saturday night. 🎩

It's fun to see the shop being represented within the wider magic community and reaching all-new people and sharing the magic ✨

This isn't just another edition, but as John Lovick writes, "a journal in which to coalesce your card-centric thoughts."

Although you won't find a description for the Bottom Deal, or the S.W.E. Shift, as all the text has been removed, the publisher has left all 101 drawings by M.D. Smith in their respective positions. Some might say this will get in the way, but we think it's a simple reminder of what this journal is for. Although if you have kids, it makes for the greatest coloring book ever! Erdnase aficionado's will be delighted with this new homage to The Expert at the Card Table and be eager to fill its pages with everything from annotations to new ideas.
