It’s hard to believe that Christmas is only two weeks away. Our Christmas wreaths are still selling like hot cakes but now we’re starting to see people ordering festive flowers as well 🎄

I love this understated bouquet, full of Christmas foliage as well as ilex berries, thistles and pine cones. It would look perfect decorating a table or mantelpiece. Treat yourself!

We’re open for collections and deliveries right up until Christmas Eve. Deliveries in Christmas week get booked up quickly - don’t wait too long to place an order. Two weeks to go 🎄

Our Christmas wreaths are flying out of the door as quickly as we can make them 🎄

So far this year our colourful wreath is by far the most popular. It’s full of pink pepperberries, dried oranges, limonium as well as lotus heads and pine cones. It makes us smile every time.

Before we launch into full on Christmas (it’s coming!), I wanted to share this autumnal pedestal arrangement that we made for the graduations last week.

It’s completely free of floral foam, making it a more sustainable option. After we took it down, we took the flowers to .columbas.hospice so that they could be enjoyed for longer. It’s always a pleasure to work with other local businesses 🍂

We loved our Christmas wreath workshops yesterday and how fantastic are these creations?! It’s so nice to watch people go from being convinced that they can’t make a wreath to leaving with something beautiful and completely unique.

We are knee deep in Nobilis fir this week - Christmas wreath making is in full swing!

We make every wreath by hand from scratch. We use moss for the base, cover that with Nobilis, cupressus, eucalyptus and then decorate it however you’d like - dried fruit, berries, baubles, pinecones, cinnamon sticks, lotus heads, peacock feathers, pepperberries - there are a lot of options!

What a joy to make this bridal bouquet for Kirsty’s wedding this weekend. I like to think of this one as moody autumn with the first hints of spring - look at those Brownie tulips and the white ranunculus 😍

The Vanda orchids added some drama and the garden roses brought a beautiful scent. One of my favourite bridal bouquets of the year ❤️

We had a wee trip to the McEwan Hall last week with some pedestal arrangements to decorate the stage for the graduations. Congratulations to everyone who graduated! ⭐️

I love finding out more about where the flowers we use come from. This week I’m in the Netherlands to visit floral trade shows and managed to squeeze in a trip to spectacular greenhouse. It was full of the most beautiful roses.

They grow naturally, without added heating or light, and so only grow roses between April and November (this is actually their final week for this year). In winter, instead of roses, they focus on dying flowers with some interesting and unique results! Love them or hate them, what do you think?

How is it possible that it’s the 5th November? This year has flown. We’re only 3 weeks away from our first Christmas wreath workshop of the year 🎄

In the meantime, autumn is still in full swing. The shop is full of beauties like the Vienna blooms which are the star of this bouquet. We have a delivery arriving this morning - come and treat yourself!

Autumn - we are here for you!

Whit Ni and Ben’s wedding celebration at this weekend was a real autumn celebration - from the red Virginia creeper on the outside of the castle to the bridal bouquet and flowers on the tables. It was a pleasure to be part of such a joyful event ❤️

At the start of the year we were lucky enough to take part in a magazine photoshoot with the iconic

We were asked to create a floral frame giving dream like vibes. I was so proud of what we made - the colours and flowers are me all over and what a treat to be asked to take part in something like this.

This week marks Simpson’s Florist’s 4th birthday 🥂 Well, kind of - Simpson’s Florist has been here for over 30 years but I took it over on 30th September 2020 and we haven’t looked back 😃

It’s been 4 years of smiles, from us as well as our customers. Is there a better job out there than working with the most beautiful flowers every day and spreading happiness throughout Edinburgh? I’m not going to lie though, floristry is tough and I couldn’t do it without the fantastic team who work with me. They are the best ❤️ A massive thank you from me to Pamela, Viktorija, Angela, Aneta, Vicky and Helen (unfortunately I don’t have a photo of us all together), as well as to all our lovely customers ❤️

We’re back for another week and I’ve already found my favourite flower for the next 7 days. These chrysanthemum blooms are spectacular, there’s no other word for it!

They’re a lovely copper colour, perfect for autumn, and also absolutely huge. Expect to see lots of these in our seasonal bouquets 😍
