OLLIE & IVY FLOWERS | Join us on SUNDAY 8TH DECEMBER in GLASGOW at the beautiful for a wonderful afternoon of wreath-making and afternoon tea with fizz. This event as become a bit of a festive tradition and we can’t believe it’s that time of year again, but it’s a lovely way to mark the start of the festive season and enjoy time getting creative with friends and family.

OLLIE & IVY FLOWER SCHOOL | Folks…. It’s not quite beginning to look like Christmas but the tell tale signs are there…. So it’s time to BOOK YOUR FESTIVE WREATH-MAKING à la Ollie & Ivy style!

Last year we hosted 150 guests throughout the festive period and what a blast we had! This year there are a number of ways of joining us. Firstly you can book online via our website to join us at our Edinburgh atelier for a wonderful time of creativity, along with fizz and fancies.

You can also catch us in the Edinburgh New Town for workshops in this lovely contemporary space.

And for floral friends in GLASGOW, book via or where we will be strutting our floral stuff amid a decadent range of festive bites and refreshments.

Classes in our atelier are already booking fast so don’t miss out.

As always, we will be utilising locally sourced materials to create that authentic Scottish vibe, celebrating the local landscape and creating beautiful naturalistic wreath vibes to adorn any door.

OLLIE & IVY WEDDINGS | We were back at the start of September for the wedding of Andrew and Claire and they kindly shared some of the early images from their photographer

Choosing a palette of cool blues and purples, the wild meadow vibes were back at work and doing their thing. Dreamy, romantic and whimsical, the arrangements added some softness to this dramatic and impressive venue in the heart of Edinburgh.

OLLIE & IVY WEDDINGS | Earlier in August we had the pleasure of being back in familiar territory in Glasgow. This time, it was all about Chan and Ashley who came all the way from San Francisco to tie the note in these rather unique art deco surroundings.

It being a late summer wedding, the colours chosen reflected the season with a mix of warm jewel shades that complemented the distinct aesthetic of the venue.

OLLIE & IVY WEDDINGS | It’s always lovely when past clients send you photos from their special day. Elly and Max got married in Edinburgh at Old St Paul’s Church in the Old Town and the party continued at the Portrait Gallery.

With Elly’s roots firmly in Scotland, they travelled from their home in Italy to tie the knot in front of family and friends. Choosing a palette of cool blues, purple and lilac, the floral theme chimed with the beauty and grandeur of the Ramsay Room in the gallery.

It was a pleasure to be part of their wedding and always lovely to work with the events team .

Congratulations to the happy couple and we wish them all the best in their future together in Italy.

OLLIE & IVY FLOWER SCHOOL | We had a lovely afternoon in the Edinburgh sunshine yesterday, with these ladies who joined us for our CREATE A HAND-TIED BOUQUET WORKSHOP.

Whilst three joined us from the same family to belated celebrate Mother’s Day, the other four ladies came along to celebrate a birthday. It really was a daughter and mother affair and they all had a lot of fun selecting and arranging these beautiful stems, plus learning all about floral design principles.

Remembering of course the “Harry Styles rule” of always arranging your spiral in one direction!

The brief was simple. They wanted to create a meadow feel to their florals using a palette of cool hues and fresh greens.

OLLIE & IVY WEDDING | It’s always a highlight to work and back in June was no exception. Kathryn and Calum’s wedding was a stunner and we were delighted to be part of it.

Kathryn kindly sent over these images of their special day with some lovely comments about our work.

“Thank you again so much for doing a beautiful job of our flowers at the hotel for the wedding. Everyone commented on how amazing they are and they just made the room look incredible. They exceeded my expectations.”

OLLIE & IVY FLOWER SCHOOL | Our autumn dates have now been added to our website for our WEEKEND FLORIST programme. This two day course runs across Saturday and Sunday and introduces students to the core elements of contemporary floral design.

Using sustainable and eco-friendly floristry methods, the course offers an intensive look at the art of floristry, drawing on the key principles of design and applying these to a mix of Individual and group based projects.

The course encourages creative thinking in our beautiful atelier in Edinburgh and allows students to develop their own floral artistry in an informal and inclusive environment. Classes are kept small in number to ensure plenty of one to one teaching by our experienced and expert Paris-trained principal floristry teacher.

This course beginner friendly and is ideal for any would-be florist or those with a simple love of flowers. So why not come and join us this autumn and begin your floral journey.

OLLIE & IVY WEDDINGS | It has been a busy weekend at Ollie & Ivy towers and the final crescendo was the evening reception of the wedding of Elly and Max at the elegant Portrait Gallery

Utilising a cool colour scheme, inspired by our Impressionist’s Palette arrangement, the couple chose a range of blues, lilac, purple, ivory and wine to complement their own attire and that of the venue.

The key creation was our Sweetheart Table floor display, styled to emphasise the informality of the design, the flowers whimsically twist and meander upwards to create a meadow vibe.

OLLIE & IVY WEDDINGS | Summer finally arrived last weekend and we were delighted to showcase its presence with these beautiful sunflowers for the wedding of Darren and Caroline who married in Edinburgh.

This iconic venue was brought to life by these warm summery hues of yellow, ivory, pink and blush, utilising a blend of Mediterranean olive greens.

The happy couple were delighted with these designs and after the event contacted us to say

“The flowers were fantastic! The attention to detail and love put in the floral displays was superb and the whole floral service was spot on.”

OLLIE & IVY FLOWER SCHOOL | One of the highlights of our floral training programmes is the large group projects we execute. Floristry is largely a collaborative undertaking and it’s important to learn how to create stunning displays as a team. This includes learning how to effectively communicate as one and positively critique the work of others. Like all group projects, you also need to understand how to meet the client brief by producing a cohesive floral creation that demonstrates uniformity of design and aesthetic. Most event florists work as a team and there is no room for egos when the heat is on. Team work makes the dream work and that really does apply to floral design! So we love giving our students the opportunity to work on these larger scale displays to allow them the opportunity to experience working in this way and of course not forgetting the sheer joy of working with so many beautiful stems.
