Introducing the insatiable Olly and Lucas!

These two tied the knot on a radiant autumn day at the stunning Cornhill Castle in Scotland.

With Olly rocking a red velvet dinner jacket while Lucas went for traditional Scottish wedding attire. Bridesmaids in sleek black dresses were definitely a vibe. Everyone looked amazing!

Definitely one to remember! We were there to capture it all on photos and video… some snippets from their epic highlight video coming soon.

Suzanna & Ragan / Toronto ➡ Edinburgh / Sunrise Session

It’s engagement season, so what better time to share some photos from one of my couple sessions? This one was a little different—Suzanna & Ragan officially tied the knot just a few days before in their hometown of Toronto! For their honeymoon, they travelled over to Edinburgh, where we arranged a sunrise shoot.

Sure, it was a bit nippy (it’s Scotland in winter, after all), but the quiet streets made it so worth it. With sunrises as late as 9am at this time of year, it’s perfect for those who aren’t morning people. And the light? Absolutely magical—almost perpetual golden hour with the sunsetting mid afternoon.

These photos feature the gorgeous Meera & Ross, one of my real couples (I promise they are not actual models, I know it’s hard to believe) who are getting married in Scotland in 2025 and wanted some adventurous outdoor photos to get them ready for their big day. I must say, I had a wonderful time with these two, from the staying with them for a night and then getting up for sunrise and hiking to The Old Man of Storr.

My last big wedding of the year literally went out with a bang! 🎆 Thank you, C&G, it was a pleasure capturing your day. Here are some of their gigantic 100 photo preview.

I’ve got some big updates for those who want to stick around for a ramble!

First things first – is live! (Well, sort of.)

Over the next few posts, I’ll be officially launching , my brand new elopement photography wing of Elliot Caunce Photography, dedicated to all things romantic, wild, and outdoorsy.

Mike & Nic / 28.10.24 / Dunglass Estate

Mike and Nic’s autumn wedding at Dunglass Estate was a perfect mix of sunshine, emotion, and unforgettable moments.

Their day began with soft morning light pouring into the bridal suite, while Mike and his groomsmen, in traditional kilts, had photos by the iconic church ruins – a favourite spot of mine.

The ceremony was beautiful, with a tearful Mike (and bridesmaids) watching Nic walk down the aisle. Afterward, the sun shone on a relaxed afternoon of cocktails, group photos, and heartfelt speeches, including an emotional one from Nic’s father.

As evening fell, sparklers lit up the night, and the couple’s rehearsed first dance kicked off an energetic ceilidh that had even the English guests dancing with gusto.

Bryce & Scott / 07.09.24 / Lochgreen house - Scroll down for an update!!! Things are happening 😏 

Some of my favourite moments from Bryce & Scott’s super summer wedding. What a joy-filled, sunny day! The ceremony itself was filled with so much emotion, it really set the tone for what was another unforgettable wedding. Seeing these two tie the knot in Scotland was true honour. Thanks for having me there chaps!!

Yes you heard it here first. Myself and my good friend and fellow wedding photographer, Lewis Cannon are starting a wedding podcast. Yes it’s going to be hilarious hearing myself talk. Can’t wait to officially announce it and start promoting soon.

NEW ELOPEMENT BUSINESS COMING IN 2025 - WILD FREE HEARTS 

In the weeks ahead I will be launching a completely new elopement planning and photography business to run alongside Elliot Caunce Photography. The plan is this page will remain my main page, for my traditional weddings in castles. The elopement page will focus on smaller weddings and elopements in the wild/ non-traditional stuff. Furthermore, My partner is going to be helping run the business and offering beautiful non traditional florals. 

EDITING QUEUE UPDATE

I am working super hard on editing everyone’s weddings right now. “Everyday I’m editing” is my life motto. 9am to 10pm most days. I am aiming to get almost everyone’s photos edited by the end of November and videos finished in December. I put a lot of time into everything I do so please stick with me. 

Otherwise I am loving life right now. Another wedding season done! Going into my 5th year as a full-time Scottish wedding photographer. Thanks to everyone for following my journey

Autumn castle weddings are a dream 🍂

Especially at Neidpath which has the most aesthetic window boxes on earth.

One of favourite parts of this day was how D&M set aside time for a private violin performance at the top of the tower, on a balcony overlooking the forests and fields below. What a special way to break up their cocktail hour.

We were there to capture this fairytale wedding on both photo and film 🍿

Did you know, hidden just outside Edinburgh, there is a secret waterfall that very few know about?

It’s one of my favourite spots to take outdoors-y couples who book a pre-wedding or couple session.

For Monique & Jeff, we spent just over an hour exploring this gorgeous forest. The sunset was truly unique, twinkling through mist created by the waterfall, a sight so profound it felt otherworldly.

This serendipitous encounter reminded me that life creates all sorts of unexpected opportunities, especially when it comes to photography.

Furthermore, there wasn’t another soul to be seen. It was just us, the forest and the magic of the night ✨ 🌙

ANDREW🇬🇧& SUZY🇺🇸/ AUCHEN CASTLE / 29.08.24

I’m just going to say it, I absolutely adore couples like these two, who want to put in the effort to get their dream photos. For A&S, this is exactly what I got.

Sure, it does take some “work” but I thoroughly believe that one of my best skills is helping you enjoy that process. 

A&S were up for every idea and were so much fun. It definitely felt like a beautiful collaboration.

I’m somewhere between an editorial portraits photographer and photojournalist. I can deny it, I love both realms of wedding photography and you can’t pigeon hole me into either. I do both and I love them equally.

I’m not a completely fly on the wall photographer, I like to be around helping your day flow and giving spontaneous and sometime downright wacky ideas (when the time is right). I’ll joke around with your guests and get them photos that will cherish too.

I consider what I do to be artwork. For a long time, I didn’t have the kahoonas to say it. I’m still growing though. That’s the beauty of this job. Each year I look back and think wow we really have come on a long way!

We’re now in our quality over quantity era…. and I’ve never been more excited. I’m only taking on 5 more weddings in 2025. I would really like to chat with you if you vibe with what I’m doing!!

Kasey & Christian / Sneak peek

It’s been a wild few weeks and I’ve been busy! Time to get posting again. And boy, do I have content you 😏

Starting with Kasey & Christian’s very Edinburgh wedding. They had unconventional getting ready photos and a first look on Circus Lane, then off to St Mary’s to tie the knot before heading to the ever tasteful, Royal College of Physicians.

If you’re visiting Edinburgh on holiday or just want a good excuse to dress up and have an unforgettable date documented, why not book one of our couple photo-session?

For Guy & Kate 🇺🇸 this exactly what they for their anniversary. They booked a local restaurant, dressed in their best and then I met them for a sunset photoshoot around Dean Village.

The whole shoot lasted one and a half hours, and this is a small selection of the photos they got.

For the rest of this year, I’m going to be offering £50 off these kind of shoots in and around Edinburgh. That’s £350 down from £400.

This offer includes engagements, anniversaries, pre-weddings, solo shoots and experimental photography for those of you who want me to making something uniquely creative and unconventional.

Hi!! My name is Elliot. I’m going to grace you all with a little introductory post.

I’m 37 years old. I’ve lived in Scotland since the pandemic…

I started going grey when I was 24. Nothing to do with the weddings, it was probably my previous job as a financial adviser that stated this off 😜

Prior to moving to Scotland, I was based in Cornwall, where I spent three years obsessing over my passion for photography. I studied BA Press & Editorial Photography at Falmouth University and it was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Prior to that I spent 2 years travelling, starting in Peru, I I ventured up through Central America. Australia. NZ. Myanmar. Thailand. Indonesia. Hawai.

Sabine and I bought our first home together last year. A Victorian townhouse. It’s been a huge renovation project for us. When I’m not working on the business, I’m in the garden or working on a DIY project.

We have a 3 year old border terrier called Jacob. We love him very much indeed! He is our furry child.

Going into 2025/26 I’m looking to niche down the business, I have some really cool ideas I’m working on to deliver something completely new and unprecedented in Scotland. Watch this space ✌️
