As I approach the 9-month mark since my stroke, I wanted to share an update on my journey and how it's impacting my work with my beloved wedding couples.

From the outset, my aim has been to defy the odds in my recovery, aiming to regain full mobility within a timeframe much shorter than the typical 18 months advised by my consultants. While the road has been challenging, I'm proud to report progress: from relying on a wheelchair initially, to using a tripod stick, then transitioning to a single stick, and now, with the assistance of a leg brace, I'm able to walk short distances independently.

My initial hope was to resume conducting ceremonies this spring. However, as Xmas came and went, I realised that my focus must remain on my rehabilitation during 2024, to ensure I'm mentally and physically prepared for the years ahead, starting with 2025.

Unfortunately, this means that I've had to reschedule the remaining weddings for 2024 with alternative Fuze celebrants. Once again, I must thank my colleagues Weddings by Fuze Ceremonies for their incredible support.

At this time, I won't be taking any new bookings as my priority is to now regain my ability to write, particularly as the stroke I suffered affected my dominant side. As a left-hander, the frustration has been tough as you can imagine.

In short, progress has, and is being made, and I'm so grateful for the love and support I've received through your messages, visits, cards, and gifts. While I'm not comfortable being in the spotlight for this, your kindness has been such a help on the hardest of days.

It's crucial to remember that strokes can affect anyone, at any time. Recognising the signs and acting swiftly can save lives. Please familiarise yourselves with the F.A.S.T acronym:

Face – Look for drooping on one side of the face, an inability to smile, or a dropped mouth or eyelid.
Arms – Check for difficulty lifting both arms or keeping them up due to weakness or numbness in one arm.
Speech – Pay attention to slurred or garbled speech, or an inability to speak despite being awake.
Time – If you notice any of these signs, act fast. Awareness is key.

With heartfelt gratitude and love, until my next update.

it was so lovely to receive these words and thank you card from Debbie and Kevin. We actually met a year ago and had brunch in Glasgow together when we talked through what kind of ceremony they would like snd they had a fab story to tell, and I was excited to write ceremony for them and was so disappointed to not be able to tell all their family and friends on their wedding day as sadly this was the daiI had a stroke-Debbie and Kevin started out as friends with their shared love for attending music festivals and drinking milkshakes and now they are husband and they had an amazing wedding day - married by my mentor morag Webster from fuze ceremonies who very kindly stepped in to legally marry them before they set off on their dream-honeymoon to oz and Bali 🏝️🥰

Mo-

Back in May of this year, I experienced an unexpected stroke just as I was about to conduct back-to-back wedding ceremonies at The Vu in Bathgate. @ Camerashy Photography I want to express my immense gratitude-to scott from shyPhotographysndVuThe VuVu venue staff for their quick thinking and prompt action in recognising the signs and getting me help.

Fortunately, both ceremonies proceeded as planned, thanks to the dedicated celebrants who stepped in, ensuring minimal disruption to the couples' special day.
It demonstrated our Fuze back up service pledge and promise perfectly.

It was a tremendous shock for me, and I spent four months receiving treatment in the hospital and at a stroke rehabilitation care facility.
Now, I'm back home, continuing my recovery with the unwavering support of my husband Scott, close family, and friends. My goal is to return to being the 'Mo' everyone knows, including myself!

Regrettably, a number of my upcoming couples had to reschedule with alternative Fuze celebrants. To all my colleagues at Weddings by Fuze CeremoniesFuze who assisted, I send my heartfelt thanks.
For my remaining 2024 wedding couples, I'm committed to conducting your ceremonies as planned. If any changes become necessary during my recovery, Fuze HQ and I will keep you informed every step of the way.

Each year, thousands of lives are affected by strokes.
Time is critical when it comes to stroke treatment, and recognising the signs can be lifesaving. It certainly was for me.

I want to conclude by sharing some information on stroke awareness:

Remember the F.A.S.T acronym:

Face – Look for drooping on one side of the face, an inability to smile, or a dropped mouth or eyelid.
Arms – Check for difficulty lifting both arms or keeping them up due to weakness or numbness in one arm.
Speech – Pay attention to slurred or garbled speech, or an inability to speak despite being awake.
Time – If you notice any of these signs or symptbut for awareness and to educate. With love, Mo

Thank you to the wonderful wedding couples I had the pleasure of marrying in April 2023 🥂
There was a wonderful mixture of love and laughter, some even shed a tear but most of all the smiles from the couples say it all. The guests were all ready to wish the happy couple well in their marriage and to celebrate with them in style.

Tasha + Drew celebrated all weekend with their favourite humans at Branxholm Park Luxury Wedding Venue

Louise + James tied the knot 🪢 with their family tartans at Seamill Hydro

Nicola + Andrew toasted their love for each other and their marriage🥂 🍾 at Falside Mill

Bethany + Jed lit unity candles 🕯️ in remembrance of those unable to share in their day 🥰 at The Vu

Thank you all for allowing me to be part of your day 💛

Day 4 - Supporting the aim 'signpost people to support and information' - Many organisations will have resources or activities worth highlighting, for example a website, leaflet or support group relevant to death, dying, loss or care. DD Week is a good opportunity to share and highlight these to your teams and shines a light during Demystifying Death Week 🙌 Good Life, Good Death, Good Grief 🙌

People usually want to do the right thing when someone they know is caring, dying or grieving. But often they can feel awkward offering help, or worry about making things worse.

Lovely wee blog on the Weddings by Fuze Ceremonies page for the Wedding of Douglas and Ross Anderson-MacPherson . They had lots of ideas for their wedding ceremony and their day and we worked together to create a wee bit of magic and make it a memorable occasion for them and their guests.
The sun was shining at Houstoun House and the ceremony was setup outside and as Ross and Douglas wanted 3 aisles - 2 for them to walk down at the same time with their mums and the 3rd one for them to leave as husband and husband - so there was lots more space to work with.

It was a pleasure to see so many friends and family eager to be involved in their ceremony with singers and readers and also remembering loved ones passed in a beautiful way.
Thanks to Mr and Mr Anderson-McPherson for embracing the “Your Day Your Way” slogan 🙌
Thanks also go to the wonderful wedding team led by Caroline McGlynn 🤌
