We travelled to the area of Stirling today on a recreational journey to explore the hidden gems found in the area.
Why not visit them as an alternative to the popular Stirling Castle which are off the beaten track.
The old Kirk and Kirkyard at Logie.
This is one of the oldest Christian sites in Scotland which dates back to the reign of King David the 1st 1124-1153.
The tiny church yard has many ancient stones including 12th century hog back graves linked to the vikings.
Next up is the Dunmore Pineapple built in 1761 by the Earl of Dunsmore with the pineapple signifying wealth and is noted as one of the most bizarre constructions in Scotland .
Very close by is the abandoned Dunsmore house on the estate of the 4th Earl built between 1820 and 1825
Both sites are very interesting and well worth a visit.
The final stop was Cambuskenneth Abbey constructed in 1140 which is the resting place of James 3rd and has links to Robert the Bruce with a parliament been held there in 1314 five months after the victory at the Battle of Bannockburn.
