A few days ago, I popped in to see Tracey at . It was fabulous to put a name to a face and get to know a little more about how the company has developed. The products are made from high quality ingredients, and not only is this an independent business, but it is also a social enterprise too. We are very much looking forward to working with Tracey and using Ness Soaps at Innes House very soon!

Sir Iain Tennant -
11th March 1919- 25th September 2006

Grandfather to the current owner, Ed , Sir Iain lived a fascinating life . From being captured and made a prisoner of war at the fall of Tobruk in North Africa where he served with the 2nd Battalion , Scots Guards, to being chairman of both Glenlivet and Grampian Television. Iain always maintained an air of respectability despite his turbulent life.
In 1946 he married The Lady Margaret Ogilvy and had three children , Mark , Christopher and Emma . His wonderful diaries we hold here in our collection , give an insight to not only his harrowing experiences as a prisoner of war but at the other end of the scale , his incredible visits to Windsor Castle , where he dined with her majesty the Queen , “ in a dirty shirt “. These retelling of his stories are invaluable to not only his family but Innes’s history and help shape the tale of one man’s life.
In 1986 he was appointed Knight of the Thistle. The most ancient and the most noble order of the Thistle is an order of chivalry in Scotland that dates back to the late seventeenth century!
Here you can see him in his robes of the order of the thistle , this beautiful painting by Carlos Sancha , hangs in our Red Ballroom at Innes House , alongside many members of the Tennant family , each with their own extraordinary stories to tell .

Meet Bina the newest member of the Innes House team.

Earlier this week, this wee lamb was orphaned, so our Farm Manager popped in with into the house with her hoping that one of the staff would foster or adopt her. She was snapped up in seconds, before our Director decided to take her!

All of us were unsure if she would make it, but she has pulled through and seems to be enjoying life.

She will be a regular visitor at Innes House, so watch out for updates.

For events for up to 150 guests we have the unique and fabulous marquee as an event space. The area encloses the memorial garden where the summer house turns into a bar and the fountain trickles quietly in the background. Adjacent is the East ballroom, and both rooms paired gives the perfect place to host your special event.

Come along to our first Spirit of Speyside event 'Building Better Whisky' on the 2nd May 2024 from 5pm to 6pm. Book tickets here:

It currently takes a litre of oil to produce a litre of whisky. But whisky drinkers now expect distilleries to be greener, from the way the barley is farmed to the source of energy to heat the stills.

For this event, new festival members Innes House have assembled a panel of experts ranging from architects to maltsters to explore the innovative ways distilleries can reduce the carbon footprint of their whisky and also provide wider benefits to the communities around them.

At the end of the event you will have an opportunity to taste the whiskies produced using pioneering, greener technology as well as speak to the archivist of the historic Innes House which dates back to the 17th century. Early bookings will also be offered a chance to tour Innes House and have a sneak preview of its new Whisky Room.

30/04/2024

This Thursday Spey are supporting Organic Architects in hosting an event at the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival to explore the latest ways for whisky to go green. Chaired by the Editor of Scotsman Food and Drink, Rosalind Erskine, and featuring panellists including our client Crisp Malt as well as Organic themselves, we are looking forward to being the first event in the new whisky room at Innes House.
