If you want to enter for the Bretforton Show act ASAP entries close tomorrow. No cost for entries. We are busy preparing our grounds and looking for suitable Vegetables and flowers to enter. It is all very relaxed so don't worry about your entries having to be perfect.
Our alpacas have gone where the grass is a lot greener for a summer holiday. Not far
at all, only a 5 min walk away, to our field off Back Lane. It is a lovely field, they stayed close to me for a while and then remembered the wilderness area. The wilderness area is rather special and has amazing views of the Cotswolds Hills. It is a particularly special place of us to do our Meet and Greets.
Don't worry they will be back in their main field, The Butty, in the centre of Bretforton by September. They have become quite an attraction for our villagers in the Butty as it is next to our Bretforton Community Shop and Bretforton Community Social Club.
Sunday 2nd June from 1-5pm several gardens in Bretforton will be open. It is support of two charities Freedom Day Centre, which is very close to our heart and a local charity that helps combat homelessness called Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire night stop and mediation centre.
Ours is one of those gardens. It is a bargain for only £5 you can look round ours and 10 others in our village. There is also a really good value plant sale, refreshments in our Tudor barn, and more.
Hot off the press - here is a list of categories/classes for the Bretforton Show on 14th Sept 2024. There are no entry fees or cash prizes the aim to have fun and for it to be a showcase for local talent (photos show a taste from a previous year). If entering competitions isn't your thing, don't worry you can come along and soak up the atmosphere. It is a quintessential heart of England event with morris dancing, sliver bands (Bretforton Silver Band are amazing), pony rides, rifle shooting, etc . All money raised goes to local chaitites and we are delighted that one of those is the Freedom Day Centre, which we partner with.
We have two new crias, baby alpacas. They are acting as if Frodo, our alpha male is their mum. It is so wonderful to watch he is really taken with them. We haven't seen this behaviour before. We got our new crias from Bozedown Alpacas and are delighted with them. If you want to meet them get in touch.
I am thrilled with Green Shed Video who made this master video for us. There are also smaller more specific videos. Amazing quality of shoots and editing. The use of the drone was a masterpiece. It took a while to get used to seeing myself on video. We are currently working on a new website which will include this video and photos from Kate Barry and Green Antlers Photography.
We are very eggcited this week as we now have 5 new ducklings. They hatched this weekend- thanks to Michelle Lwl White and Gareth White.
