Another one from the archives (I’m really busy at the moment, finishing a bespoke commission, so can’t post what I’m currently working on)
This is “Air Blue”. An ethereal design made from layers of palest blue and shell pink organza. The sleeves and neckline are edged with organza “curls” with occasional embroidered crystals…like raindrops on blooms.
I called it Air Blue because the blue is barely perceptible and the whole dress weighs barely anything.

Katy had her heart set on using this amazing print from for her wedding outfit. Such a beautiful, vibrant happy print.
The cotton poplin wasn’t quite stiff enough for the design, but after careful starching and backing with buckram it worked perfectly.
We had such fun working together and Katy was absolutely delighted with the result.
If you want something really special and unique, for your wedding or any occasion…do get in touch. I’d love to chat through some ideas with you 😊

I’m now taking on commissions for summer 26 bespoke wedding dresses.
It seems a long way off, especially on this gloomy October morning, but it goes so quickly!
I can only take on a limited number as I like to do all the work myself if possible.
So if, on your wedding day you would like to wear a beautiful, truly unique, handmade dress which is exactly right for you… just get in touch to make an appointment for an informal consultation.
Either DM me, email (link in bio) or just give me a ring 07944605559.
I look forward to hearing from you 😊

When I’m making a bespoke dress the first step is to set the stand to the exact size of the client. I might use an adjustable tailor’s dummy, or as in this case by adding wadding to a mannequin. I then “sculpt” the fabric on the stand before transferring the pieces to paper (the mathematical stage…which has to be accurate to a fraction of a millimetre)
This method is an amalgamation of all the pattern cutting I was taught at many years ago.
Funny how some things you never forget

Sometimes an idea for a new design just pops into my head. So I have to scribble it down really quickly, even if I’m busy doing something else.
I thought of this one when I saw a couple of rolls of fabric in the studio which I’d forgotten I had… beautiful black guipure lace and silvery grey heavy taffeta.

This bespoke wedding dress, encrusted with crystals and edged with an ostrich feather trim, was a fabulous project to work on. Perfecting the embroidery design (along with the amazing ),
the placement of the feathers and the final hand embroidery along seam lines etc, was so satisfying.
Emily was involved all the way. So the final dress was her own creation… which is the beauty of going bespoke

Here’s one from the archives (as I’m on holiday at the moment)
“Florence” from the Couture Collection.
I named this dress after the city where I spent many happy years, and also my lovely daughter, (who I named after the city.)
The simple asymmetric dress is adorned with intricately pleated silk organza, which I had custom pleated at Ciment Pleating (check them out, it’s amazing the variety of pleating designs they offer)

Perfecting the fit on the calico toile. The subtle changes are then transferred onto the paper pattern before the dress is finally cut in silks. Or in this case antique linen
