Following huge demand, we’re extremely pleased to welcome Lloyd Hollett – The Comedy Wordsmith back to the Thursford stage this Christmas! Lloyd was a great addition to last year’s cast and brought his unique style of comedy to the show with quick witted, tongue in cheek jokes and relaxed compere skills.

We’re thrilled to have Lloyd back for our 47th year and look forward to seeing his new material performed for Christmas Spectacular audiences.

The Steam Museum is now closed following a successful summer season. From our biggest Gala Day yet to the most backstage tours we've hosted in a few years - we've loved welcoming so many customers through the doors over the summer.

It's now full steam ahead (no pun intended) as we prepare the complex for Christmas. We'll be open from 8th November with the award-winning Christmas Spectacular! Tickets available now!

Some of the team at Thursford are taking on the extremely brave challenge of skydiving on 16th September, raising money for Mind Over Cancer

Our Events Manager, Mel, and Financial Controller, David, will be taking to the skies for the second time, but for Thursford's General Manager, Charlie, this will be the first.

The jump will be 13,000ft which is taller than 12 Eiffel Towers!

Launched in June 2021, Mind Over Cancer supports the mental health of young people (aged 0 - 29) who have been given a cancer diagnosis. Currently supporting patients in East Anglia, the charity hope to expand their services UK-wide in the future, with every support and donation making this possible. As a cancer diagnosis doesn't disappear when treatment stops, their services are available to support these young people and their loved ones at any stage in their life.

With the museum closing for the season this Wednesday (4th September), we're taking a look back at our Gala Day event from July this year. With our biggest line-up yet, the day was a big success! See Victory in steam this weekend!

To celebrate a successful summer season, we're offering customers the chance to get up close to our flagship Showman's engine, Victory! After being restored in 2023, the engine will be steamed up outside and will be powering an original 1925 48 Keyless Ch***pa fairground organ.

Did you know the Keyless Ch***pa organ was one of the only items to be sold from Thursford founder, George Cushing. The condition of the sale - it must stay within the family! We're pleased to say it has all these years!

The Mortier is a massive 112-key organ with the front displaying 1930s style with a vengeance and is strongly reminiscent of cinemas of that period.

Mortier was the second organ added to founder, George Cushing's collection, following on the heels of the Marenghi.

'Rebecca' is based on the famous steam engines of yesteryear and built using a 3D printer (minus the wheels) - how amazing is that?! Today we saw our famous Showman's engine set off on a journey across to Weeting Rally, where you can see the original Burrells of Thetford machine in steam following a huge restoration project in 2023.
