Never underestimate the pleasure of working!

Today saw my first branding and portrait shoot in Mevagissey today for Forth Accountancy and Tax consultants post second hip replacement - my but I enjoyed it! I truly felt alive again. I just adore telling business stories and helping my clients look natural, happy and fabulous.

Forth accountancy has a great bunch of people, a fabulous all inclusive work ethic, as a family run firm - and - a beautiful company dog!

And, being Mevagissey, I also had a great excuse to sample winding streets, harbour views and….local foods as well! Welll, be rude not to!

I learnt something really interesting today!

I had no idea that you can open a pension account for your child. If you then put £250 a month away into it from birth to when they are 18 … and they never add to it thereafter…. By the time they retire the pot will be worth around £4,000,000!!!

Now many couldn’t afford that amount- but just think what £25 a month could accumulate to. If they then kept adding to it themselves? Well! Certainly enough for a comfortable retirement - especially important now, as I rather feel that state pensions will eventually get phased out.

Wouldn’t that be a great future gift for your family?

I went along and see what this beautifully placed Falmouth restaurant is now offering into their 2024 summer season.

All the guests were invited to enjoy great drinks, before enjoying some 10 different mini plates of great cooking. ... delicious!

Naturally my camera came too!

Don't be thinking that these dishes were made to please my lens - they were the real deal coming straight of the pass. So, you can expect the same quality if you choose to visit.

Give this restaurant a go and enjoy the fabulous views over Falmouth harbour at the same time.

What are the differences between a wedding showcase, wedding fair/show and wedding open day?
It’s the organisers’ intent.
I don’t mean this in a bad way! Just that it’s the driving force for the event.

A wedding open day has the intention of asking couples to look around their venue. It is aimed at couples thinking to book their type of offering.
You can expect a mini guided tour and possibly a few other exhibitors that the venue would like you to use.
These are chosen usually on the basis that they’ve worked with them before and like and trust them.
A wedding showcase tends to be a slightly more elaborate version of the above.
The venue is still the driving force. They fully decorate to show off all they have to offer. If it’s a hotel, chances are that they’ll also have a bedroom made up as a bridal suite.
They will have more external suppliers showcasing what they do. More commonly a mix of their preferred suppliers and others - so a more varied choice. It’s usually organised by the venue owner or a person/company specifically brought in to ensure that the venue is the main exhibit.
A wedding fair/show is a more independent arrangement organised by a person/team who has chosen to book a particular space to showcase all the many exhibitors in an equal manner.
The exhibitors aren’t usually “vetted” by the show organisers. Anyone is usually able to apply for a space within. What does usually happen though is that types of exhibitor are limited to a certain number to ensure that it isn’t overwhelmingly one sort - eg all photographers.
The more established shows do “vet” exhibitors to ensure couples booking will get a certain level of service from anyone within.
What this means for the visiting couple is a different “sell”. There is no drive to have any particular venue/supplier, there will be several choices in any type of need and more of a variety for inspiration and ideas.
Each version has its merits. It’s just useful I think to know what each version primarily intends.

I had a real buzz of a time today with Gill Pipkin Consulting!
It’s fair to say that she wasn’t looking forward to her visit to me! However, she really threw herself into trying my various ideas - and trust is everything for getting that killer image that looks natural, with personality.

We are a non-hierarchical company, and our Administrators are valued members of the team as we know just how important their role is in the smooth running of the firm.

The role

The role will involve usual Administrative tasks that will include the following:

• File opening and associated procedures on behalf of our consultants, to include production of engagement documentation and preparation of regulatory file opening documents.
• Opening, scanning and filing of incoming post.
• Providing an efficient and effective level of administrative support which will assist in the smooth running of the firm.
• Ad hoc admin support as required.

Who are Paddle & C***s?

Paddle & C***s LLP was founded by Joint Managing Partners Penny Paddle and Verona C***s in 2018. Since that time, the firm has grown to over 17 lawyers, a practice manager and (currently) 2 administrators.

We specialise in commercial work and our clients are spread far and wide and therefore we use electronic systems to assist in remote working. All of our staff are self-employed consultants, giving them the flexibility to work when and from where they like. Our lawyers are recommended in the Legal 500 and we have been shortlisted for various awards, including most recently the West Country Women Awards and Women in Law & Diversity Awards.

Skills required for the role

• An ability to manage various tasks at the same time.
• A previous background of working within administration (ideally within the legal sector).

You might think this service is only for bigger companies - and indeed, many do use their services. However, it’s also invaluable for sole traders.

If I’m on a shoot, out networking, talking to a client or processing to a deadline, then I cannot concentrate on calls coming in. I also know that if people don’t get a reply within a few rings, they’ll move on - so that first contact is vital.
pick up in my business name, take a detailed message and immediately send it on for me to deal with when free.
When you work for yourself, every enquiry is important. This service ensures that you never miss one!

I was sat in The Wig and Pen, Truro today and spotted a lady reading in the window light. It felt like the scene from a movie or a painting.

I only had my phone camera to hand - a quick snap and the moment was caught.

It’s really wonderful to see my images being used!
This I promise…. The food is EXACTLY as I’ve photographed!
I got asked recently whether I spritzed oil/water onto plates to make the food glisten, or painted on a glaze to make meat look more juicy. No I don’t!

All food images by me, are exactly as presented to real customers. I photograph straight off the hot plate, in the best light and at angles to best illustrate the emotion of the food.

So, if you visit Fuel you will receive lovely food!

We are proud to announce the launch of the website for Fuel Cafe Falmouth. It is great working with David and the team. We are really excited to be working with them going forward with their digital marketing strategy.
