I've been specialising in reportage Wedding photography for nearly six years now and I'm a huge fan of it. It's important to me that your photographs serve as memories, not just of what the day looked like but how it unfolded and how you felt and from my experience the only way to capture genuine emotion is to step back and document things as they happen. http://www.gallowayphotography.uk.com

Top 5 Wedding Photograper UK / Top 25 in the World

WPJA (Wedding Photojournalist Association) 2024

I'm very pleased to have finished 5th in the UK (and 25th in the world) for last year's WPJA rankings.

Here's how it all works...

Photographers compete over four rounds throughout the year and can submit up to ten photographs per round. Every image submitted must be unposed and a true reflection of a natural moment at a wedding. A panel of four judges go through every single image and select photographs they deem worthy of an award, and the points system is as follows:

Gold Award (100 points) - Four judges select the image
Blue Award (45 points) - Three judges select the image
Purple Award (22 points) - Two judges select the image

The competition is stiff, with 120+ photographers representing the UK alone. Photographers come from every corner of the globe to compete with 350 from Europe, over 200 from the U.S, and many more from Asia, the Americas, Africa and Australasia. To finish 25th (and not having submitted photographs for round one) is heart-warming for me and a nice reminder that my photography is headed in the right direction.

Thank you to my couples who chose me to photograph their weddings in the first place, and to WPJA for their dedication to wedding photojournalism and acting as a respected benchmark. Looking forward to shooting more weddings this year and competing in WPJA 2025!

Really chuffed to get four WPJA awards (Wedding Photojournalist Association) to get 2025 off to a great start. Looking forward to getting stuck into more 2025 weddings and submitting more of my favourite images.

⚡️ First Wedding of 2025!!! ⚡️

(Check out the 'Weddings' page on my website for the whole story)

Straight into January (the 3rd) with a bang courtesy of the LOVELY Josh & Zoe. At this time of year, you can have it mild-ish or you can have it sunny, you can't have both. I choose the latter every time, and so it was in Islington and later on at Coin Laundry in Exmouth Market.

The day was easygoing from the off, and after an intimate ceremony at Islington Town Hall, we headed to a beautifully decorated Coin Laundry when a crowd of friends awaited. Great food, a constant buzz, and warm-hearted people...let the anti-climax of January the 2nd be damned!!!

⚡️ New Wedding Ahoy! ⚡️

El & Zac's wedding in East Molesey was the perfect way to round off the year. That lovely soft winter sun, a church wedding, a reception at The Mitre overlooking The Thames, and a surprise visit from Santa to oversee a game of Heads or Tails. Looking forward to a cracking 2025 that kicks off with my first wedding on the 3rd of January.

Throwback - Alex & Sam's day in the sun. It all started with a little bit of prep at Alex's parents' house before moving on to an outdoor ceremony at Morden Park House and then back for a marquee garden party.

This is why I love shooting weddings, one week it's at a castle in Kent, then a pub in Borough Market or an intimate garden party with friends and family.

Throwback - Kim and Joshua's action packed day at the beautiful Hedsor House. Being a Jewish wedding there was always going to be one hell of a party (actually there were two) despite the hot and sticky weather - once you're soaked with sweat on tge damcefloor you might as well just keep going right?

Throwback - Katie & Adam's laid-back outdoor wedding at The Master Shipwright's House in Deptford. A sticky humid day it might have been, but with a relaxed vibe and refreshing wisps of a breeze from The Thames, it was a hell of a day to remember. 'Boho' gets banded about a fair bit within the wedding scene, but this day reflected the true meaning of the term.

Throwback - Alexandra and George's wedding up in North Yorkshire was a blast. Apart from the occasional rain shower that couldn't have put a dent in the day, even if it really tried, it was exactly as I hoped it would be. Plenty of emotion, loads of Dad Dancing (not always by the Dads), and a really long drive home afterwards...but oh so worth it!

Throwback - Bethany & Aram's big day at a favourite London haunt of mine, the hidden gem that is 100 Barrington in Brixton. I've shot quite a few weddings there over the years, and it's always as unique as it is special.
