Meet The Myrtle’s!!

Aren’t they a delight! Fan’s of sun, like a good feed now and then and make us smile.

Junior Readman put some dahlias called Myrtles Folly in a bouquet for one of our lovely flower clubbers a few weeks back. And they only have a Guinea pig called Myrtle! So it seemed rude not to put a few in for the next delivery too! And here they are side by side…honestly we think our Myrtle is the poor relation! 🥰

Because it’s rude to turn up to a party empty handed…

Because when you run a flower farm you should take flowers as a gift…

Because when your fabulous friend has an important birthday it’s the least you can do right…

As a small business just starting up this year we’ve had some unbelievable support from so many wonderful people and it’s so amazing to be able to pay back even a fraction to someone who’s done nothing but support promote and encourage us every step of the way. Wishing nothing but love and happiness to the best birthday twin 🥳 xx

We’ve been waiting for a wee while on this dahlia. She’s called Caitlin’s Joy and we’re trialling her for the first time. Having a lovely friend called Caitlin may have had a slight influence on the purchase but we’re pleased with her!

We do love us a all grown peat free, no chemicals, no single use plastics. No nasties. And the best bit? You can come to the farm on Saturdays 10-4 and pick your own to take home.

Support your local flower farm. We’re a small family run enterprise, our biggest achievements sometimes are not whacking each other with a shovel! 🤣

Did you know that our Friday Flower Club technically starts on a Thursday?

We cut and condition our flowers on a Thursday so they’re at their best for arranging on Friday morning. We then select the best stems following their long drink over night and deliver fresh seasonal bouquets to our club members…on a Friday…which is why it’s a Friday Flower Club!

Lots of lovely dahlia, sunflowers and zinnias today amongst other beautiful blooms!

Here’s just a few of the lovely moments from this weekend’s Pick Your Own Flowers.

As you can see, we had some very happy customers and they picked some beautiful flowers to go home with.

Why don’t you book your place through our website and come down to the farm. You can fill your home with flowers grown by your friendly local flower farmer, no chemicals, peat free, no single use plastics and you’re supporting a small independent business. 💪🏻

P.S. if you book in advance you too can have a Selsted Afternoon Tea or Picnic Ploughman’s from our fabulous friends - cake and flowers, sustainably and ethically produced for your delight!

It’s been a deadheading day today. The are absolutely on point - look how good the rubbish ones look!

Junior Readman clearly had a funny turn this morning…Can’t decide if we’re giving a run for his money or recreating the 1950s ladies swimming cap! 🤣🤣 (pretty sure the swimming cap just takes it!)

This afternoon we had the pleasure of hosting the Folkestone Flower Arranging Club on the farm. We provided the flowers, a demonstration and a look around the flower field. Hannah from baked the most fantastic scones for a cream tea and the sun came to play as well. All in all a good day!

If you’ve got a group that might be interested in an afternoon out feel free to message us directly as we can always host flower parties in the field. Pretty confident you’d have a good time as well - talk about big headed!!

So a few months ago we ran a competition for International Women’s Day for someone to come to a PYO session and bring along a friend. Our lovely winner Jessica called into the farm on Saturday and brought her friend Nicky.

It was great to see them enjoying the field and it certainly seemed like they had a good time. Some fabulous choices from the field here ladies - great job. Such a pleasure to see you both xx

The are on their way! The weather has been so irritating this year, but our ladies don’t seem to be too bothered at the moment. Come to the farm on Saturday for our PYO Flowers session and you can cut some to take home with you.

We try to label all our plants because we think it’s highly annoying when you look round a garden and spot something new to fall in love with…only to find there’s no label and so no way of knowing what to try at home in your own garden.

This one as you can see we planted for the lovely and ever helpful and supportive Georgie at who loves a tartan dahlia. And we love her, so why not label according!

We also have ‘Gills Bells’ and Jackie T’s ‘Achillea for Bees’, because we like to honour our friends and supporters where we can! xx

So that’s a wrap!

This weekend has been a delight. PYO flowers with our most lovely customers. Prepping for the open day at then setting up and working the room!

Met some glorious couples, chatted to fabulous suppliers, listened to really talented performers and made some wonderful new contacts. Wannabe Readman made it back from London just in time to help pack up. And caught the end of with wine in hand!

Whilst we gave away most of our flowers at the end of the day… these beauties came home to grace HQ dining room. This wine…didn’t last long!

Why We Love Fridays…

1. Because it means PYO Flowers Saturday is only a day away and we love meeting our customers and followers on the farm

2. Because we deliver our fresh flowers cut from the farm to our flower club members and it’s always a joy to arrange flowers for our lovely clubbers and see their faces after a long week weeding.

3. Because it’s officially acceptable to spend most of the morning playing with and photographing flowers so we can show off to you guys what we can offer. These pics are all from today’s Friday Flower Club deliveries and it took a lot of self control to only post 5!

4. Because EVERYONE loves a Friday right?

And whilst we’re at it, the flowers don’t look half bad either! Although dahlias starting to pop and anemones still going…it’s a funny old year for flowers this year!

🌸 Gift vouchers available on our website which can be used against our on Saturdays or items from our online shop for click and collect flowers

Pictures as examples as all our flowers are cut fresh for our orders so no two are ever the same.

On Fridays we do Flowers! 👀👇🏻

We deliver fresh flowers cut from our flower farm and arranged for our club members. We deliver to our local area and are sometimes tempted further afield if needs must (and a small delivery surcharge applied!), although our usual patch is , , , and everywhere in-between.

We grow all our own flowers on the farm and follow organic principles which means no pesticides, peat free, no single use plastic. If you’d like to join you can either sign up on our website or message us directly.

No two are the same and as we’re seasonal you’ll always get a different selection each time you get your flowers. Some of our club members have weekly deliveries, fortnightly or monthly, it’s up to you.

P.S. if you’re not in we leave them in a safe spot for you which we arrange in advance 😎

A few weeks ago we were privileged to be asked to create funeral flowers for the top of a coffin. As we ourselves tend to be different to the traditional floristry style so to was the request. We were asked to use wild flowers as they were the favourite of the person we were honouring.

As you probably know already we don’t use floral foam so we created a large sheaf of foliage and flowers which can be broken down into three separate arrangements and then used to either dress the venue for the wake afterwards or be sent home with family members.

As there’s no plastic and the whole thing is fully compostable it also means that should you wish to leave it at the graveyard it will slowly disappear with time, which we feel is very fitting.

Being asked to create funeral flowers is a real honour and a privilege for us. We can do smaller sizes, incorporate items from the family or the deceased persons garden, or even some of their personal effects should you wish to include those individual unique touches.

Oh and p.s. don’t forget you can book a Selsted Ploughman’s picnic or afternoon tea to enjoy in the field as well. Details on our website - link in bio or DM with any questions
