Spring is the bestest - we love us some spring blooms in a meadow box! And who doesn’t love a fritillary? Those chequer marks are just beautiful, and the tulips, and the ranunculus, and the daffodils, and the hyacinths, and the snowflakes…it’s a flower lovers heaven in the field right now. Which is great new for our PYO wedding couples!

One of the reasons that is so passionate about connecting us all with our local customers is to showcase the variety of the stunning seasonal blooms that we can grow here in the UK.

The pictures here show some of the Friday Flower Club bouquets we’ve sent out from our farm in 2024. As you can see each month is full of colour, variety and beauty. Whilst these are specific examples of what we’ve grown, that just goes to show what all the different members of are growing and selling. We’re not specialists in any particular variety, we just grow a mix from March (fingers crossed!) to October - frost depending.

These flowers have been grown chemical free and following organic principles, as most of our colleagues do. They’re not flown in accruing thousands of airmiles, they’re not doused in chemicals, they’re grown in our country, providing habit for our pollinators and supporting our natural environment.

One of the reasons we joined Flowers From the Farm was because behind it all is a love of flowers and sharing that love with you, our customer. It’s such a joy to be able to grow with the seasons and supply British flowers - in some members case all year round. If in doubt head on to the flowers from the farm website, enter your post code and you’ll soon find someone beavering away to make your day with some beautiful British blooms not too far away from you.

When you buy your flowers from us it’s not just us you’re supporting. We are about to install some barn owl boxes in the wildflower meadow hedgerows and have already put up bat boxes and house martin nests.

We farm alongside nature. Any time you support us you’re supporting our local environment. These owl boxes were made by and the posts that they’ll be installed on are reclaimed old posts we bought from a local hop farmer. The money that you spend with us on your wedding flowers, workshops, gift bouquets and PYO days out goes straight back into local suppliers wherever possible with our environment in mind.

Thank you so much for your support. Feel smug with all the feels when you buy with us! xx

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again.

Symmetry is overrated.

One simple spring arrangement, each turn of the vase shows a different view and none are disappointing in our opinion!

“There is nothing as satisfying as a freshly w**ded mulched bed” - Junior Readman, 11/03/25 - swipe to see what she’s on about!

We challenge any gardener to disagree with the above! It’s just such a pleasure to see an immediate difference. Even the plants looks better once you’re done.

Also helps that we use the best stuff from - their agrimagic is both a w**d suppressant, feed, soil improver and all round blanket for our beds. Plus it’s made a short hop from us and is another small local farmer diversifying and getting their stuff done. Boom! 💥 only about 45 and a half more beds to go! 🫣🙄😎

What do you think? Are you mulching yet? And if not why not! For those of you coming to our workshop on Sunday we’ll be talking about this and many other hot tips for your home growing.

Farewell flowers. Foam free. Plastic free.

Full of colour and movement. This casket arrangement was able to be broken down into three separate arrangements after the service and the flowers were then used to dress the venue for the wake and were sent home with the family members afterwards.

We don’t think there’s any place for floral foam or plastics in flowers. This spray looked beautiful and natural. Just how we like our flowers.

Traditional flowers are often arranged into floral foam, which breaks down into harmful carcinogenic microplastics, ending up in our waterways, and according to recent worrying reports could perhaps be adding to the amount already found in our bodies and brains.

At this time of year we don’t have a lot of flowers to cut on the farm so we spoke to the wonderful and arranged to get some extra British flowers delivered to ensure this display went out looking as lovely as possible whilst still being mindful of our commitment to sustainability and supporting other British growers.

Here’s a little throw back to our spring flowers from the end of March 2024. Might not feel like it but these will be here sooner than we think!!

Sometimes the spring flowers are just even more precious because we’ve had to wait for a while to see them.

Delightful.

Calling all buddleja lovers… if you want top stems to play with this summer, or to encourage as many pollinators into the garden as possible then now is the time to start pruning. Here’s a little selection of pictures to show you how stunning they look in arrangements.

We’re obsessed. Which is lucky, because the lilac ones self seed all over the farm! However we grow dark blue, pink, white and purple as well by choice!

The scent is beautiful and they provide a full on harvest for our pollinators. Their common name isn’t butterfly bush for nothing! Once the flowers have gone over we also use the seedheads in arrangements too. It’s a very good do’er, just deadhead and chop back and it will throw up new stems almost up until the frosts. Although buyer beware…they can be known to self seed so hacking off the seed heads will both promote your blooming season and prevent an invading army of them!

Maybe just come to us and cut them yourself here!

Here it is guys. The official last flower arrangement from the field for 2024! Managed to scrape together the one lonely delphinium whose sole ambition was to make it to the Christmas table and the last of the roses, the first of the anemones and some kafir lilies, h**e and echinacea.

Keep your eyes peeled on our socials as we’ll be letting you know about pick your own flowers a bit earlier than last year - hopefully we’ll be able to let you pick your own daffodils next spring not to mention tulips, hyacinths, anemones and a few other spring beauties.

Today Junior Readman is in charge of the stuffing and the wrapping, two crucial jobs before heading out to Canterbury Cathedral for the Christmas service.

Just wanted to wish you all a very merry Christmas and happy new year before the chaos and frivolity ensues.
