High in the heart of RISE sits , a labour of love for the RISE team and now a nominee for award for Best Art Gallery in Dorset, Somerset and Bristol! 🙌

Calling all art lovers and Saturday moochers! 📢

Today is the last chance to see wonderful art work by Plein Air artist at at !

Come and join from 1pm-3pm today, Saturday 15th April to celebrate Andrew’s show, have some nibbles and a chat to the artist about his beautiful work.

The show comes down tomorrow so get those speedy running shoes on! 🏃🏻‍♀️

RISE is a big old building and rising energy costs have meant that we’ve had to think hard about how to keep the costs down and keep the business running.
We’re relieved to say that our year long journey to get planning permission for solar panels has been successful, and that 49 shiny panels will be installed on to our South-facing roof.
They will be almost invisible to the public, and will provide us with about 46% of our energy needs over the next year whilst reducing our carbon footprint.
This will directly help and the by bringing their energy costs down.
Indirectly it will help the and every class and event leader who use the space by securing the future of the building they run in.
We’re expecting work to start in the Spring, and we would like to take this chance to send our thanks to locals, our ward councillors and for their support.
We will forever be grateful that you could see the importance of this step in keeping our lovely building going. 🙏

With darker evenings and the urge to hibernate it brings us so much happiness to see people getting out to use the spaces at RISE for fun!

This is a last minute reminder that the gorgeous The Whittox Gallery] in RISE is holding a preview evening TODAY (11th) for its newest exhibition SOMERSET PRINTMAKERS from 6.30pm-9pm!

Come along for drinks, nibbles and a preview of the most beautiful art. We look forward to seeing you, and if you can’t make it we look forward to welcoming you into the gallery to see the exhibition during its run (12th November-22nd January).

Let’s spread a little sunshine to this rainy Monday evening- we’re so happy to introduce Angel, leader of our new class Let’s Dance!- Dance Dynamica 👋

Name: Angela Oliveira
Class: Let’s Dance!- Dance Dynamica
When and where?: Wednesdays from 7pm-8pm in the Old Schoolroom (Hall)

⭐️ Tell us three facts about yourself:
- My name is Angel means ‘messenger’. I really love peoples reactions when they hear my name and I’m full of love and peace every time I intro myself it and say :my name is Angel.
- English is my 5th Language and I am still learning 😊 how to say biscuit and lavanda 😂 with out causing a funny reaction!
- I was born in Africa , country of rhythm,
sunshine and vibrant colour. I have been teaching around the world for the last 30 years ‘living the dream’!

⭐️Why did you start your class?
I am passionate about all dance styles and love to share my enthusiasm with all, no matter what age or ability (or how many left feet!).
I teach different styles of dance classes but specialise in free style disco and Latino African (Funky & groovy), aerobics and Zumba. My classes are a good introduction to any type of dance style exercise.

I love the simplicity that we all have inside of us that inner child so ready to come out
I love sharing what I have learned all over the world over 40 years is a need I feel have so much more to give , I can’t stop learning

⭐️What do you love about running your class?

I love seeing people happy smiling when they dancing enjoying the moment enjoying them self’s .I love the group energy the vibes .
Is very full feeling for me to observe everyone dancing together feeding their souls learning exploring new moves.
This what I have loved to ever since I remember being me.

Angel brings sunshine and happiness to RISE and we’re so happy to have her with us! ☀️

RISE is so thrilled to announce that the wonderful artist has begun her 12-month residency with us, culminating in a solo show in The Whittox Gallery]] next September!

She has received a National Lottery Project Grant from Arts Council England for the project, and we’re over the moon that she has chosen to base her work on our building.

Pauline’s work will be based on the history of our building as a place of worship, and on its development and continuation as a hub for Frome’s community.

We’re fascinated by the history of the building and can’t wait to hear more! We know that Pauline’s work will reflect what we find so magical about RISE and we’re so honoured to be a part of her journey! 🙌

It’s Monday and time to say hello to Sophy- the lovely class leader of ‘Pilates for Cycling’ here at RISE! 👋

Class: Pilates for Cyclists
When and where?: Thursdays from 12pm-1pm in the Sun Room (upstairs)

⭐️ Tell us three facts about yourself:
I love being outside whether on my bike, running, cold water swimming, or walking my dog.
Being physical is a joy and helping others keep physical, keep moving, and enjoying the bodies is a wonderful thing to share.

⭐️Why did you start your class?
I started the class because I love cycling and love Pilates, and was curious about a different way to share my knowledge.

⭐️What do you love about running your class?

I love the focus specifically on things that will benefit cyclists whether they are training as a triathlete, or like to pootle the lanes, becoming aware of how to be most efficient and comfortable on the bike is a delight. Awareness is key, sharing that is delightful.

We love that Frome is a hub of cycling enthusiasts and are so happy that RISE can host such a wonderfully useful class! 🚴🏻
