Well the dahlias were total rubbish this year and are already frost blackened but the roses have just kept on giving all summer long. So it’s farewell to dahlias unless they survive the winter or are grown from seed and hello to a brand new rose bed being planted this autumn, together with a few more metres of tunnel space allocated to squeeze in the more delicate ones.
Flowers here really have to earn their place and there are even a few roses that will be on the move to my own garden due to lack of scent!

Another month, gone in a flash! There were highs and lows, the usual August struggle with dry windy weather turning the field into a dust bowl and dismal dahlias. Thank goodness for roses in the poly tunnel as they saved the day more than once!

It was a pretty tumultuous week, starting with lots of poppies, cutting and prepping gorgeous flowers for two weddings, a middle of the night ambulance dash to hospital with my husband between the weddings, ending last night sitting by our wildlife pond feeling very grateful.
Thank you everyone for your concern and good wishes. The patient is well on the mend and asked me last night to make sure his favourite jeans and shirts are ready for our holiday next week.

It was a busy morning flowering up the tables in The Orangery at Cleatham Hall for today's weddings showcase.
I'm experimenting with using more plants in decoration. They may be recycled and used again or even possibly retained by the wedding couple as a memento.
The top table garland of cut ivy was entwined with early flowering clematis and could be repeated throughout the summer with different varieties. What do you think?

Today it's a look back on some of this year's weddings. There were beautiful brides, amazing venues and lots of flowers for weddings from April to September. Thank you all.
Some brides chose to arrange their own flowers and collected multiple buckets of blooms, leaving me to make bouquets and buttonholes, others chose a full package including ceremony and reception. I'm always happy to work with whatever suits you and your budget.
