For a breathtaking three days in September the historic town of Galashiels in the heart of the Scottish Borders plays host to a spectacular music and entertainment festival. The festival pops up from nowhere to transform the town and its streets into a lively open venue, giving locals, and visitors from all over, a chance to mingle and enjoy the music and performance of the various artists. The Borders have long been closely associated with a number of characteristic features that are as unique as the Region itself and from now on we hope that this music festival will become an annual event, offering visitors a great opportunity to visit the Scottish Borders.

This is the Go Fund Me Page to sponsor Galashiels grandfathered Bill Jeffrey. He is walking the 214 Southern Upland Way cross country from Portpatrick on the west of Scotland to Cockburnspath on the east. This is to raise funds for the towns Christmas lights and free switch on event. We want Galashiels to Sparkle this Christmas and create magical memories that will stay with our children and grandchildren forever.

In celebration of Year of Young People, Live Borders is showcasing the talents of the Scottish Borders.
Come and take the stage!
We are looking for dancers, actors, musicians, writers, film makers, clowns or any other performers that would like to share their skills, promote their act or simply shine in the spotlight!

The showcase is open to individuals and groups aged between 8 and 25 years and will take place at Heart of Hawick

Applications to register your act are now being taken with a deadline of Monday 15th of October.

Our Story

Best of the Borders will be a festival to celebrate our region, its talent, businesses and beautiful surroundings. The festival will start in late spring early summer 2018 with four heats to find the most promising music talent in the Scottish Borders. The best three acts from each heat will play at the main event an open air festival hopefully in the Scott Park Galashiels. The musicians will be competing for a prize for the best act that will be a weekends with hotel accommodation at top recording studio Gorbals Sound. (www.gorbalssound.co.uk ) The winning act will also win the Best of the Borders Festival for their town the following year. There will also be an under 24 category hopefully linked to the Borders Youth Music Forum (Sound Cycle) www.soundcycle.org The prize for the best act under 24 will be a recording session in the Pro Audio studios in Hawick. www.soundwavesproaudio.co.uk The idea behind this is to create five new events in the Scottish Borders. The Best of the Borders Festival and will showcase all that’s good about the Scottish Borders. It’s beauty, music, arts, crafts, businesses, tourist attractions, food, drink and most of its people. Who’ll decide what musicians will represent their towns in the final for the chance to win the festival the following year. You will….the family, friends and people of that town….you will get the chance to vote for your favourite two musical acts.
