Medway Culture Club Annual Carnival Coverage by Kent today

What a fantastic event the Medway Culture Club Annual Carnival was. It marked the 75th anniversary of The Windrush Generation.
Despite the wet weather we had a great turnout with a visit from the Mayer of Medway Cllr Nina Gurung and the Medway leader of the labour party Cllr Vince Maple.
The atmosphere was lively, everyone was dancing and wearing colourful carnival costumes. A fun family day buzzing with various activities bringing different cultures together in one big celebration.
Heyam’s Kitchen was there proudly offering tasty Middle Eastern cuisine.

Yesterday’s Christmas dinner order ( an Arabian feast) for my lovely friend and her family.

Leg of lamb on a bed of mandi rice.
Roasted chicken surrounded by cooked vegetables.
Fattoosh salad- salad with balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing, topped with fried pieces of bread.
Also cucumber and yogurt salad.
My friend is vegetarian so we made her a vegetarian Mosaka and vegetarian mandi rice.

طلبية مبارح لصاحبتي العزيزة وعائلتها.
العشاء كان مكون من رز مندي مع فخدة خاروف مشوي.
دجاج مشوي محاط بالخضروات المطبوخة
فتوش وسلطة خيار باللبن.
صاحبتي نباتية.. عشاءها كان مسقعة نباتية ورز مندي.

Typical Middle Eastern Friday breakfast. Hummus, foole(broad beans), magdoos (pickled stuffed aubergine in olive oil), fattoosh salad, olives , pickles and cucamber and carrots sticks.

Come and support My Shining Star Children Cancer Charity and let’s raise money for this good cause.

Heyam’s Kitchen will be there too, offering two types of authentic Middle Eastern sandwiches to suit meat eaters (Shawerma) and vegetarians/ vegans ( vegetarian msakhan rolls) taste.

Hello everyone,
At last we had our tasting session at the beautiful St Barnabas house.

Thank you Juliet Wallace for hosting the event and thank you Cherie Bennett , Margaret Stanley and Grace Kelly from WIB for the support.
