A bright and cheerful birthday bouquet delivered recently which included gorgeous lilies, bright orange gerbera, freesia and purple September and it smelled amazing, can I say where has the lovely sunny warm weather gone ☀️ well I will just have to look at this bouquet to warm me up ☺️💐

‘Summer love’ is very popular from the website and I absolutely love making it. It has lilies, roses,, stocks and lisianthus. The sun wasn’t shining when I made it but I was determined to take pictures of it outside because the flowers look so much better, it’s either raining ☔️ or so dark lately and as I say that it’s beautiful and sunny today 🙈💐

I will never stop loving Jodie’s sunflower shower bouquet 🌻 which also had roses, germini 🌼 and finished with the delicate gypsohelia and had gorgeous dark green trailing ruscus which helped the flowers stand out and also the beautifully scented eucalyptus against the yellow was just 👌

I hope those celebrating Mother’s Day over the weekend had a lovely day and those that didn’t celebrate it also had a wonderful weekend. I did a limited amount of Mother’s Day orders as I wanted to spend time with my family this year 💓

After having some recent wedding consultations I realised I needed to share some points with you to help with your flower planning.🌿

1. You don’t just have to have just carnation buttonholes, that’s what people used to have and you usually have flowers used throughout the wedding flowers so for example if you are having roses they would be your focal flower with filler flowers like gypsohelia, astilbe or wax flower and then greenery like a mini bouquet but you can have whatever you want so different flowers for each item, just foliage anything that matches your personality and your florist can guide and advise you don’t be afraid to ask!

2. You don’t need to know anything about flowers that’s my job and other florists, we usually ask if you are having or thinking of having a theme, any particular colours or overall style for the day then design flowers around that, if you would like to have a particular flower that’s fine or any other material, don’t stress about not knowing great if you do but absolutely fine if you don’t!

3. Suppliers are usually booked 1,2 or sometimes 3 years in advance and I advise starting from your venue, brides and bridesmaids dresses and grooms and best men suits then you can look at cakes, flowers, photographer/videographer as you will know or have more of an idea of what style you are going for and then that will help you choose your suppliers.

I hope you are are all having a great week and keeping warm, it’s freezing 🥶 out there!
I thought I would share a little about myself, how I got into floristry and how long I’ve been doing it.
So apart from the first year after leaving school I studied science of all things ( what was i thinking) clearly I wasn’t but I had no clue what to do or study after I finished school so I decided that even though everything was pointing to flowers 🤣 I grew up around plants and loved helping family in their gardens , general tidying and weeding and I don’t know what it was but something was pulling me to them and I loved being in them. After that year of science 🙄 my sister suggested studying floristry (which I didn’t know was a thing then) so I went to college and worked in shops along side my course which was 3 years. I started working full time in shops and have never looked back.Its all I have done ( apart from a little break when I had my children) for over 15 years and I just couldn’t think of anything else I could do that I love so much.💗

Happy new year! 🥳
I am officially back now. It has turned chilly and snowing here so I thought I would share a photo from Jodie and Robs gorgeous summer wedding to warm us up. Jodie didn’t know what she wanted but did know she wanted to include her favourite flower and decided on white germini, a smaller version of the gerbera then decided on sunflowers 🌻 and roses and finished with gypsophelia. I guided her with her bouquet, her bridesmaids bouquets and the flowers for the buttonholes, they definitely made me smile and i loved making them.

The steps of making a 14” sympathy posy pad I made recently and delivered. The customer wanted autumnal colours of orange and cream/white which had roses, spray carnations, wax flower which smells amazing and ‘fluffy’ lisianthus and included bay leaf.

Gabby’s amazing gypsohelia bouquet which was a winter wedding but you can have any time of the year 🤍 she knew what she wanted from the start and I just guided her, we discussed sizes and the actual effect of the finished bouquet then I designed the rest of the flowers ✨

When should you start looking for a florist for your wedding?
I advise once you have your venue booked, then you can look for a florist, cake maker, your dress, bridesmaids dresses and suits etc. It all stems from your venue as to the style then everything else falls into place.
I also recommend booking venues and suppliers as soon as possible as they can get booked up 1,2 or even some 3 years in advance so if you find one you love I would advise booking as soon as possible as you might loose them! 💐
