I was really excited to be contacted my the lovely Megan from The Sunday post expressing interest in my virtual photography sessions over lock down. An article taking about my work was in the paper on Sunday which has lead to The Kay Adam’s show getting in touch and asking me to be on the show next week talking about my work. Another virtual family session in Hong Kong. I photographed Mhairi and Ross wedding in Edinburgh many many moons again. With this new technology I am now getting to photograph their beautiful children while they are in Hong Kong. I thought I had the best joy in the world before all of this. It’s just got even better!

Virtual session - Mumbai. The main thing I’m loving about these virtual sessions is meeting people from all over the world. I’m feeling like me again as I’m getting to in some small way travel, meet and chat to new people having different but similar experiences as parents. This beautiful family living in Mumbai booked a session and said they wanted to capture what lock down had been like for them. Living out of their room with a baby born during lock down. I loved every minute of this session.

To celebrate all the women out there that have got through a quite frankly sh*tty year of homeschooling, working, parenting, life admin, pregnancy, new borns, toddlers, teenagers, supporting friends and loved ones to name but a few I am giving away a virtual shoot to a mother/friend/sister/daughter and someone they nominate who thinks deserves it! Do you know someone who deserves some beautiful artistic photographs to remember this crazy time in their lives? This chapter is going to go down in history. It’s time to capture some happy memories in some family photographs.

Over the past year I have been stuck at home with my three young children who were 6, 4 and 2 when we went into lock down. My husband got stuck over seas and couldn’t get home due to the pandemic at first for 6 months then for 2 months. Out of the past 12 months I have spent 8 of them on my own with no family around to help during lock downs and the kids being off school. It’s been tough, exhausting and emotional draining. I wouldn’t have got through it without good friends so I want to celebrate those friendships with this give away. Over the past year I couldn’t do the job I love so very much and feel like I lost myself a little (a lot) being forced into full time single parenting with no support. It’s a tough gig. I bloody love my children but no one is suppose to spend that much time together without outside interaction. However since I have started doing these virtual sessions I have a new least of life and a fire in my belly again.

So, let’s do this. You can be anywhere in the world for these sessions to take place, cool huh! So far I have photographed sessions in Australia, Hong Kong, Dubai, Seattle, Ireland, England and Scotland.

Work has given me a new lease of life at the moment. I’ve been bowled over by the response to my virtual sessions and it’s given me my fire back after a tough year. One thing I am missing is travelling. Seeing other places and adventures. Being in the middle of nowhere, closing my eyes and taking it all in. Hopefully this will come again soon. The U.K. has had it tough but hopefully we’ll bounce back soon so the world opens up to us again.

Another virtual session this morning with this gorgeous family. I photographed Claire and David’s wedding in January last year, right before the world turned upside down. Their wedding was and had an 100+ guest list. Can you imagine being around that many people again?! It was an absolute honour to still be able to photograph the next stage of their lives despite lock down restrictions. Beautiful Fleur is 4 weeks old and every inch of perfection!

Last night I took photos of this beautiful mum to be! The wizardry of todays world allowed me into their home thousands of miles away to take some beautiful portraits for them that they’ll treasure forever of this time in history. I photographed Kelsey and Alex’s wedding in Skye a couple of years ago when they came over from the states to have a small intimate wedding in Scotland. I loved everything about this pair and it was amazing to see their faces, chat and share the next chapter with them. I’ve got a new excitement to be creating memories again. The old man of Storr in Skye is one of the most magical places I have photographed. It was incredibly special to photograph these two beautiful souls in the rain on the run up to their wedding day. Recently I have been inspired by some amazing women in the industry to pick up my camera again and start shooting. Like a huge majority of the population at times I have felt low throughout the past year. I am so incredibly thankful to have my three beautiful children to keep me (extremely) busy over the past year however that has also taken its tole parenting solo. Through no fault of his own my husband has missed every lockdown due to working over seas. The first time he got stuck over seas for 6 months, he’s now been away for nearly two, with trips in between. One of the things I’ve found hardest is not being able to work. I love my job and feel at my most confident when I am taking photos. In the summer I managed to take on garden sessions for families however winter and a second strict lockdown hasn’t been kind. There have been amazingly talented photographers paving the way over the past year with virtual shoots however I have just recently come across this wizardry. So, this is my first attempt at a virtual motherhood session and I think it’s safe to say I feel like my old self again. Technology has worked its magic to allow me to capture stories again. So, here embarks my journey of virtual story telling. Our world may feel a lot smaller at the moment due to our surroundings but that dosent mean there isn’t important stories to tell. Big up to the very talented and for pulling a wonderful community together, being strong talented women in the industry and giving me and so many other women the much needed kick up the ass.
