I always love seeing images of brides on their big day.

We chat so much about dresses and hair when we first meet, and I spend a lot of time visualising, imagining and looking at details, but it's always a joy to see how everything has come together.

Something small can still make a big impact ❤️

Jane was very petite and didn't feel comfortable in a larger headpiece, so she chose a small button as her base.

We picked out the colours from her amazing dress (ivory, pale blue and gold) and decided to use those in her headpiece. The natural-coloured sinamay adds a modern touch to a classic colour combination.

Jane's dress had blue and gold flowers on it, and she knew that she wanted a flower and some gold feathers included in her design. I added some sinamay curls for a bit of drama (she was the mother of the bride after all!) and a splash of pale blue millinery veiling for a bit of lightness.

Like lots of wild flowers in your hair ❤️

Jillian had picked a beautiful mid-tone blue as one of her wedding colours. She wanted her bridesmaid's hairpins to be only this colour, so I had a little fun playing with different finishes and textures: smooth and faceted; transparent, opaque and matt.

Each of the three hairpins are exactly the same, but I love the effect they give all together: like lots of wild meadow flowers on a summer's day.

I love making hats ❤️

Did you know I'm also a qualified milliner?

I really loved everything about my course. It was so exciting to learn new skills and to learn how to work with new materials as well.

I also went to London for a couple of weeks and took part in some really fabulous millinery workshops.

I'm really proud to have learnt from such inspiring, talented and warm-hearted people.

One of my favourite childhood memories is wearing some of my gran's beautiful 1930s and 1940s hats (she was very stylish and like a film star). And I'd wear her jewellery as well, all at the same time: all the rings, necklaces, bracelets and bangles I could get my little hands on.

So here I am, decades later, making hats and sparkly things...

Something a little bit different from me...

Sam described her wedding vibe as 'dramatic fairy'. She knew that she wanted something for the back of her head that also draped down and added a little movement. Her colours were a cool sage green and silver.

Sam picked out some leaves that fitted with the woodland/boho feel of her wedding, some beautiful pale green silk, and some silver and pale green Swarovski crystals.

I dyed some cotton organza a pale green to tone in with the silk, and added some silver to those leaves to create a little contrast.

And here is Sam's beautiful comb: handmade leaves made from silk, hand dyed and finished cotton organza; Swarovski crystals ❤️

Beautiful roses in different shades of soft pink; green velvet leaves; Swarovski pearls in a range of delicate, vintage tones; and Swarovski crystals of different shapes and sizes in silver.

Each one of those little seed beads are added by hand (by me), so this took a while to make.

You could wear this as a headband, or across the back of your head - it's very versatile.

I'm back in my little studio after an amazing break in Italy ❤️

I was lucky to visit a couple of fantastic museums: the Museo Ferragamo, and the Museo della Moda e del Costume in Palazzo Pitti.

There's nothing more inspiring than being able to see handmade pieces, made with beautiful materials and made to the highest standards of craftsmanship.

I'm currently working with gold at the moment!

Exquisite handmade jewellery and accessories (headbands, tiaras, brow bands, combs, pins). Bespoke bridal service. Established in 2004, Gioia Mia has rapidly gained an enviable reputation amongst brides as one of the foremost designers of bespoke bridal jewellery and accessories in the UK.

Working from a city-centre studio in the heart of Glasgow, tiaras, headbands, brow bands, haircombs, hairpins, necklaces, earrings and bracelets are all designed and handmade with exquisite craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail.

Pieces are made using only the finest materials: lustrous freshwater pearls; sparkling Swarovski crystals and rhinestones; vintage and contemporary glass; all kinds of gemstones; and a wide range of metals (including sterling silver for jewellery).

The colour palette varies according to each customer's specification: from ethereal, barely-there crystal to classic whites and ivories; from sophisticated combinations of n**e and pastel tones to dramatic statements in bolder shades.
