The Scottish Youth FA was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of former president, Ian Wilson from Bishopton, Renfrewshire.

Ian dedicated most of his adult life to Scottish football through his roles of Scottish Juvenile FA President, Scottish Youth FA Founder/President & Strathclyde YCA Chair.

Outside football, Ian was a trust board member of the Waverley Paddle Boat.

Following his role of SYFA President 1999-2001, Ian served as Chair of the Appeals Committee for 20 years and Chaired the Appointments Panel along with colleagues Jim Cameron and Ian Richardson.

At the inception of the SYFA, Ian dedicated numerous weekends to the cause throughout 1998 and 1999.

Ian was presented a Life Member Status by the SYFA and Millenium Life Member of the Scottish FA.

Mr Wilson was a remarkable man who played a significant role in Scottish football.

He will deeply missed by us all, but in particular his close friend and SYFA member, Mitch Agnew.

🌟News Story🌟

Over the past two years, Christopher Divers' family has honored his memory through a variety of charity events. Christopher, who was just 36 years old, tragically passed away in October 2021.

Among these events is "Deepsea Day," which has helped raise funds for local grassroots football teams and food banks. This year, the Cambusnethan Talbot 2011 team was eager to contribute to the food bank and selection box appeal. They were thrilled to give back a little to Christopher’s family.

The food and selection boxes will be distributed between the Maranatha Centre and St. Bernadette’s in Motherwell. They have successfully raised £940, which allowed them to purchase additional food, and they plan to donate some cash as well.

Well done to everyone involved 👏
