Just two short weeks ago we took part in initiative to

On a wet and windy Wednesday we vowed to bring some joy to unsuspecting passers by. We gifted them each two bouquets; one to keep and one to ‘petal forward’ to another.

Research shows not only the positive effects of receiving flowers, but surprisingly an even bigger boost to those giving the blooms! So we gave them the opportunity to get those good vibes through the roof!!

Already looking forward to next years plans.

With special thanks to who collaborated with on this special event. And to for supplying us the promo materials.

His poor aching arms!

Because we know Wednesdays can be a drudge, we’re taking part in

We’ll be surprising you on the streets of Glastonbury with impulsive joy in bunch form tomorrow!

We’ll be giving away two bouquets to each person we choose; one to keep and one to re-gift. We can’t wait to see the happiness these acts of kindness bring.

So we look forward to helping on by petalling it forward!

Those Roses. Those Dahlias. This bouquet is what a wistful sigh looks like. We think you should look at a wedding bouquet and know just what season it is. This whispers autumn, ever so gently.

What a thrill to create the flowers for Emily & Matt this weekend. We sourced the rare and beautiful Café au Lait Dahlia, entwined them with plaster-beige Quicksand Roses, Astilbe, autumnal Snowberry and Peak-of-the-season Asters. Finished with Eucalytpus and a trickle of homegrown Muehlenbeckia down the front adding softness and movement.

Did you know, all our designs are given old fashioned names?

This is ‘Emily’, always popular and always changing. When you order one of our arrangements, you’re choosing the colour scheme and leaving us to choose the best, seasonal flowers. Right now Emily contains things like flowering mint, clematis, roses and snowberries.

Totally Tropical 🌴

Sunday’s Bride, Francesca, presented me with a photo of her dress and I knew this was the ONLY way to go! A casual affair in Bath, we created a handtied bouquet of pure white Curcumis, Anthurium and of course, our favourite Avalanche, to echo the tropical leaf silhouettes on Francesca’s dress.

I love how the exotic leaves give it structure and contrast. It was great fun to work with some different materials.

Meanwhile I’ll be out the back cobbling together a couple of old yoghurt pots and some string!

Congratulations to Errol who won our drawing competition!

He invented ‘The Medicine Flower’ which cures Asthma and smells like Gingerbread People! No stranger to art, Errol has selflessly sold his paintings from outside his home to raise money for The Red Dress Project to return to 🥺for his efforts he is being interviewed for television 📺 so we have a local celebrity in our midst!

Errol popped in today to collect his prizes: a voucher for new art supplies and a big beautiful bouquet for his parents (and him) to enjoy. Thank you to for their involvement and to all the imaginative and creative kids who to part.

Just a gentle reminder…

We are officially open 10am-2pm Monday-Saturday.

Sometimes (often!) we are here later, and if that’s the case, by all means pop in. The plant display will still be outside, so that’s a big clue! 🪴 🪴 🪴

We have had the same opening hours for many, many years now, but we have heard a few people being caught out recently. So take note, and if you’re not sure, give us a call 📞 and check!

Meet the Team…

Here we are. A small but perfectly formed compliment of florists. What is the collective noun for florist? A tuft? A bouquet? Enjoy reading a little about us, with a few fun facts thrown in.

Emily is amazing. Need I write anything else? She’s such fun to be around, and seems to silently whip up designs without even batting an eyelid! Emily’s preferred style is romantic, English country garden. Think Nigella, Daisies, Ranunculus, Peonies…

She’s an incredibly talented artist too! Follow to see her beautiful work. We stock her cards in store 👌🏽

James is King of the Basket Arrangements! He arranges flowers carefully and with intent. He’s wonderful with all our customers and, if you hadn’t already realised, is the mastermind behind most of our reels on Instagram and Facebook. He’s a visionary!

He creates beautiful nature-inspired content himself under so take a peek!

He’s also my partner in life, and I’m incredibly lucky to have someone so dedicated and willing to do whatever I ask of him. Poor James!

⭐️ Star Sign: Aquarius

🌸 Favourite Flower: Mimosa

🛑 Pet Hate: People who shuffle their feet

👎🏼 Worst Job: Cutting Paper

👍🏼 Best Job: Baskets!

Then there’s me, hiding behind some sweet peas as you’ve seen quite enough of my mug to last a lifetime! I head the team - hopefully they’d say I’m good to work with (you’d have to ask them!)

I can turn my hand to most design styles, but I probably fall more into the classic and country disciplines. I’m also pretty good at traditional wired work; corsages, headdresses and trailing bouquets.

⭐️ Star Sign: Libra

🌸 Favourite Flower: Lily of the Valley

🛑 Pet Hate: Bad Customer Service

👎🏼 Worst Job: Sorting the foliage buckets

👍🏼 Best Job: Creating farewell flowers for families

😐 Something that’s overrated: Coffee / Cheese 🧀

Our sustainability journey…

In our fleeting fifteen years, there has been a huge shift globally to be greener, and our industry is no different. It’s far from perfect, but we do everything we can to balance being commercial and environmentally friendly. Sustainability is all about people, planet and profit, and sometimes it’s easy to forget the people when discussing sustainability.

We visit our growers in Holland as often as possible, not only to absorb the beauty of their flowers but to learn about the techniques and procedures they use to be as eco-friendly as possible. For example, using LED lights, recycling almost every single drop of water and using biological controls for pests. Some of our growers even have chickens pecking round the plants to keep pests down!

We buy from reputable, enviro-conscious growers and in doing so, we are supporting their communities, whether in the UK, Holland or further afield like Columbia and Ecuador. Buying their flowers allows these growers to pay living wages, put food on their tables and buy school uniform for their families.

On a less-global level, we use only compostable and recyclable materials for our bouquets (paper wrap, biodegradable film, bamboo card holders and recycled ribbon), and we limit floral foam as much as possible. All our green waste is composted and we have a loyalty scheme for containers returned to the shop for us to reuse.

As I say, it’s not perfect and we’re always looking for ways to improve, and, as time goes by, greener ideas will replace older methods.

You see, being a is never about just ‘playing with flowers’, and is giving me an opportunity to show some of the many facets that make me

Why I became a florist…

This is much simpler to answer than if the question was ‘how I became a florist’!

I needed to be creative, I needed to be inspired by nature, and I needed to heal. There is no greater way than with flowers.

After years of studying business and management with a view to becoming an accountant or solicitor, I was told by a wise and dear friend I would have been ‘a square peg in a round hole’. Perfectly put, Margaret. I discovered a world of colour and perfume, of art and joy. I get to share this every day with my friends, my industry and most importantly with all of you.

I have the honour of marking every milestone in your life with flowers, whether it’s the birth of a beautiful baby, a promotion at work, the purchase of a new home or the loss of a loved one. I touch hearts with flowers.

I am a and thrilled to celebrate with you all. I hope you enjoy the journey, and this weeks little insight into what makes the floral industry such a wondrous thing.

Flowers & Plants with Passion

Hi! I’m Jake, Owner & Floral Designer at Abundiflora. I started the business in 2009, and we serve Glastonbury, Street and the surrounding countryside.

Ever since I was a little boy, I loved helping my Mum in the garden, fascinated to learn the ‘proper’ botonical names for the plants I saw, smelt and planted. I dabbled in my passions for plants and flowers whilst I studied Business at College. I would ultimately study the fine art of Floristry in Wiltshire before starting my beautiful business.

We create bouquets, arrangements, planted displays and much, much more for our gorgeous customers here in Somerset. We love talking about weddings and helping your vision come to life on the big day.

I have been fortunate enough to receive several invitations to Holland, as a designer and a Grower Ambassador. This is given me true reverence for the materials I am honoured to work with every day. Abundiflora is in The Good Florist Guide, and I am an ambassador for Floral Fundamentals and Florismart.
