On Saturday the BBC breakfast team will be coming to Gamesley community centre to film live to the nation as we proudly reopen the centre. The work behind the scenes to get to this point has been testing, requiring many hours, weeks and months of work to reach the requirements expected to enable the transfer process to happen. The founding of a new charitable organisation Gamesley Community Group, policies, governance etc, building a business plan, vision document, funding strategy etc and build funding and support to use the centre. Its been a true test of my ability, resilience and tenacity and a rollercoaster of emotions, I’ve cried, I’ve laughed, I’ve got angry but most of all it’s made me realise we can change things if we set our minds to it. We are a great team determined to make a difference.
I will say this is way out of my comfort zone speaking live on tv, so wish me luck and please if you can support by coming down. You’ll get the chance to see the amazing facility we’re going to build into a thriving hub and a free breakfast supplied by Northern Canteen
