From time to time I get special requests to edit some photos from a shoot, add a missing person, make a photo funny for an in-joke for the friends/family etc. I take these requests as challenges as it's a nice way to practice some of the more advanced features of the editing tools we all now have access to.
In this week's request, adding Jamie, who is often missing from group photos as it turns out, and has now become a running gag between them 😅😄
In the past, this result would have had to undergo an hour or two of cutting, ;layering, pasting, shadowing, colour matching etc to get right, now though, with the power of AI and machine learning, it's possible to use Generative Extend to widen the frame, and then AI subject select to automatically cut out a person ready to seamlessly paste then match into the destination photo. All done within Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom.
It still takes time and knowledge, but much less time!
A little before d after look at editing portraits shot in the shade on a sunny day having bright light in the background 🔆
Now that summer appears to be here, this may be the type of scene we find ourselves more often working with. I find using a wider aperture helps create pleasing backgrounds in these harsher areas of the frame, when bringing those highlight details back the out of focus looks more pleasing to the eye, too 👀🙌
The #Aurora / #NorthernLights are probably the most beautiful natural phenomena anyone will ever likely to see in their lifetimes!
This is a #throwbackthursday post to a 5 day vacation in Finland 🇫🇮 to shoot a friend's wedding. We saw the lights pretty much every night during this solar maximum period.
Shot with the Canon 5D3 and 17-40L lens. The weather sealing of this combination helped keep the -30 degree elements out whilst we spent most of the night just looking up and gazing at the silky smooth whisks as they came and went 😎
Recovering underexposed scenic photos
Photography friends!
Here's another positive thing I want to share :)
People often message in asking me how I get images looking a certain way, and whilst I can't always share the exact changes I make, I always point in the right direction, so that they can discover and develop a look suited to their style.
Here's something a little different this time round. I'm using IGTV more to show behind the scenes and how-tos on certain shots and images, and today I wanted to cover recovering underexposed images, and why it's not the end of the world with the help of #Lightroom.
(Note: Not sure whjy the audio is only coming out of one channel... will figure that out soon!)
Quickly removing distractions from your photos
Tools used:
- Adobe Photoshop CC
- Adobe Lightroom (not essential for this but nice to have a way to manage your image library...)
