For weddings I meet with the couple to find out about their relationship so far to enable us to work together creating a cermony that reflects their characters, personailites and their wishes for one of the most important days in their lives. I write a bespoke service based on the two of them; I offer a rehearsal the week before the wedding and I officate their service on the day...seeing them thr

ough from start to finish. I carry out ceremonies wherever the couple choose, not just licenced venues. For funerals I meet with the family of the person who has died to capture the essence of that person and ensure that their funeral service reflects the life they have lived. I write a service that is approved by the familly in advance and I deliver the servive at a venue of their choice. This can be at a crematorium or burial site or can be anywhere else; hotel, club, home etc. I also meet with people who are at the end of their own lives and want to arrange their own funeral.

After almost ten years and almost two hundred couples, I did my last wedding at Skylark Golf and Country Club at Whiteley on Friday. I’ve met some fantastic people who worked there over the years and worked with some amazing suppliers so I’d like to say thank you to them all for their support.
But most of all I’d like to thank the couples who choose me as their celebrant and put their trust in my for their special days, it was a blast!!
UPDATED-I am still continuing with all my funeral work and still have some weddings booked and am open to other bookings, just not at Skylark

Just packing to go away for a long weekend with good friends to celebrate us all turning 50 this academic year when this lovely review popped into my inbox. I'm always so appreciative when people take the time to thank me whilst they are grieving.

Here is a photo of just one of the beautiful couples I helped with weddings at Skylark Golf and Country Club earlier this year.

It’s always a pleasure to work with the fabulous coordinators at Skylark who are so professional, yet so laid back which makes my job a lot easier!

Once again I’d like to thank all of the couples who booked me for their weddings this year and who have already booked me to write and deliver their love stories for next year and even 2026, I can’t wait to get working with you to create your own version of your wedding ceremony.

Yesterday saw my last wedding of 2024 and I’m looking forward to having a well earned break until it starts again next year.

With the funeral side of my business being incredibly busy I only have a few dates left for weddings next year so if you are interested in booking me, I will be at the Skylark Showcase on Sunday 3rd November from 11am-2pm.

After a very emotional end to last year and a stressful start to this year, I was so pleased that February has started with such lovely feedback...

"I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the lovely way that you conducted the service yesterday. On the day you hit exactly the right note and tone for the celebration, your delivery of the eulogy was dignified and full of compassion and understanding, it captured Dad’s life beautifully, and will have resonated with all those in the chapel who knew him so well.

Your support both prior and during the service was a tremendous crutch for us and you certainly made me feel more confident in saying a few words.

Saying farewell to a beloved family member is never easy, but you made the day as good as it could possibly be under the circumstances, I will always be immensely grateful that we have such a lovely cheerio to remember Dad by."

Yesterday was very special for several reasons; I led the service for my mother-in-law; I got to see lots of my husbands family that we don’t see often enough and Shirley’s was my 2000th funeral service. ❤️

Feeling reflective….

End of year

As I near the end of another year
Being a celebrant is a role I hold so dear
I helped dozens of couples tie the knot
To help them appreciate the partner they’ve got.

There have been smiles and laughter as they’ve said ‘we do’
As they’ve embarked on a journey so fresh and new
As they’ve walked down the aisle hand in hand
And looked forward the the life they’ve planned.

I wave them off with a cheery smile
and I sit in my car for a little while
To appreciate the happiness that’s yet to come
For the newlyweds, their future has just begun.

Then my thoughts turn to the ones who have gone
The ones who didn’t get to see a new dawn
The families who’ve chosen me in other ways
To help their loved ones at the end of their days.

I sit and listen and take it all in
some stories have been so inspiring
Then at my desk I start to write;
someone’s mum who didn’t last the night;
a father who sadly never came home;
a child whose story will never be known.

This year has been tough for many families
So many of them have been known to me
A school friend who died at the start of the year
I sat with his wife and we both shed a tear
Of a man who has gone before his time
I’m so glad his time coincided with mine.

Then just last week I helped a mate
I first met her at our school gates
Her son had been murdered, he shouldn’t have been
His leaving party was epic, you may have seen.

So I’m about to start another new year
I’ve had a break with those I hold dear
I’m ready to start all over again
To help others celebrate their joy, love and pain.

Following on from Saturday’s wedding it was lovely to get this feedback from the newlyweds whilst they are on their honeymoon….

“Thank you so much for marrying us in front of our friends and family on Saturday. You made it everything we wanted it to be! All our guests said they had never been to such an intimate/emotional wedding and it will be a ceremony that they'll never forget!!”

After such a busy wedding season, this lovely couple were my last of 2023.

I have loved each and every couple I’ve worked with this year…there’s been laughter, there’s been tears and there’s been a whole lotta love 💗
I now have two months off weddings before I start all over again with couples booked in for January and only have limited weekend spaces for the rest of 2024….
