Nice to be back picking the flowers, I have been on holiday and the dahlias have suffered for it - I have given them a big dead head and I am hopeful with the warmer weather new flowers will follow shortly!

In terms of my growing year this has been a really tricky one. Lots of flowers have suffered with our weather and I have lost whole crops of flowers due the enormous amount of slugs. There is normally a natural balance at my plot but I just don’t think the winter was cold enough to kill off many of the pests. I am however pleased to see that the dahlias are starting to shine - there are the first of the beauties to flower and I hope you like them as much as I do xx

I have seen lots of large white butterflies around recently. Whilst they are lovely to see they are also laying eggs and I find that they really like honesty and sweet rocket plants. I have just checked my seedlings and found a lot of eggs. I have just rubbed them off with my fingers. Worth checking yours! Anemone and ranunculus update

So in just over a week I will be taking part in the Orwell Challenge to raise some much needed funds for Suffolk Prickles Hedgehog Rescue where I volunteer. The money raised will go towards creating some out door pens for the hogs. If you would spare a few pounds for this lovely rescue it would mean the world - thank you.
