Great Dunmow Maltings Saved for the community by dedicated volunteers. Truly unique and in the heart of Great Dunmow. A beautiful listed building in the heart of Great Dunmow.

Our historic venue is available to hire and makes the perfect location for classes, meetings, parties and many other events. To enquire about booking our space for your next event please email [email protected]

Our space is available to hire from 9am - 11pm, 7 days a week. Hire charges are as follows:
£20 per hour 9am - 6pm Monday - Friday
£25 per hour 6pm - 11pm Monday - Friday and all day

Saturday & Sunday. Discounted charges for multiple hiring are available on request including community use. This charge includes the use of tables and chairs for up to 60 people. There is a small kitchen at the back of the room which can be used. Parking is available just opposite the building in the White Street Carpark. Museum Opening Times:
Great Dunmow Maltings is also home to the Dunmow Museum. The museum is open Saturdays & Sundays throughout the year between the hours of 11am - 4pm. Please note the museum is closed
Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year between 11:00am and 4:00pm (Bank Holiday hours and the Christmas period may differ)

Group visits are welcomed and a guided tour can for a small fee.

If you're on the fence about joining our Sip & Paint workshop with Jessica Sian Illustration you should know there are just 5 tickets left! 🖌️

We've been delighted with the uptake so far and Jessica can't wait to guide you through making your own watercolour house portraits.

These pieces don't just have to be of your home, it could be of a friend or loved one's home (the perfect Christmas gift perhaps?), a piece to commemorate your first home, or even a baby's first home piece. Swipe for some ideas (though please note these pieces are half the size of those being created in the workshop!).

If you choose to paint your home you can even have Jessica turn it into personalised Christmas card after!

Whichever house you fancy painting, this workshop is all about you creating your own bespoke piece of art of somewhere special to you.

What a market! We want to start by saying a HUGE congratulations to our winning young traders who are off to the Regional Final at London's Portabello Road Market in July!

The standard was incredibly high so our judges had a tricky job picking winners, well done to everyone who took part.

Here are our winners, take a swipe through to see them all and their stalls:

🏅In first place was Holly's set up of beautiful hand printed pieces blew us away.

🥈 scooped up second spot with her delicious artisan chocolate.

🥉.kiln was awarded third place with her playful polymer clay jewellery.

🎖️ received a special certificate to recognise her joining us. At only 14 Anya is too young to be judged but wowed the judges and will also go on to Portabello Road.

A big thank you to everyone who visited our market, the stall holders, and our judges Rachael Clark from , a local business owner and market organiser and last year's winner

With just 12 hours to go until our market we have just a few stall holders left to announce... David Stovell Design will be joining us, and (weather dependant) may even be demonstrating his craft!

David is a designer maker, and greenwood worker based in north Essex who uses local wood from Essex and Suffolk to create items for the home.

Every piece is handmade, often from small pieces of wood that would otherwise go to waste, making them a unique addition to your home!

Be sure to pop along tomorrow, 4th May, between 10am & 3pm to see for yourself!

In the mood for a sweet treat this weekend? Dvianta Group have you covered! They're joining us for the first time tomorrow, with their artisan bakes made just a few miles down the road in Flitch Green!

Our youngest stall holder joining us on Saturday is , who's just 14 years old!

Anya's recently started her business, creating delicious raw cookie dough made to eat straight from the pot.

Inspired by her love of baking, and sneaking raw cookie dough out the mixing bowl, she's built her business! Her cookie dough comes in a range of flavours and tasty bakes!

Why not pop along this Saturday and help us welcome Anya to her first market with us!

Another of our regular stall holders under 39 and so taking part in the young trader competition at this Saturday's market is

Owned by George and Keanan, the pair both have a love of woodworking and create handmade gifts and kitchen accessories along with bespoke furniture.

Based just outside Dunmow, they work with a range of different woods to make unique pieces for your homes, with many pieces being one of a kind!

Find them at our first market of the year this Saturday, 4th May. Just a couple of minutes walk from Dunmow High Street.

Just over a fortnight to go until our first watercolour workshop with @jessica_sian_ 🖌️ On Thursday 3rd October at 7pm. Here she is showing you the type of piece you'll create in the session. Your very own watercolour house portrait! It could be a treat for yourself, or you could make a start on the Christmas presents and paint a loved one's house to gift them. This workshop will cater for all abilities as Jessica will create a pencil sketch for you before the class, then guide you through adding the pen detail and watercolour. What's more, you'll have the opportunity for Jessica to then turn your work of art into your own set of personalised Christmas cards if you wish. Tickets are £35 which includes all materials and a welcome glass of fizz, and can be booked via the link in our bio. Doors to our market open at 10am tomorrow! So here's a look at what you can find there, and how to find it! Some things to know: ✨ Open 10am - 3pm ✨ Entry is Free ✨ Located in Great Dunmow Maltings, just a minutes walk from the High Street ✨ Browse wonderful local businesses ✨ Wheelchair accessible ✨ The Dunmow Museum is open downstairs, also free entry and kids love it! And whilst we're supporting local, there are lots of other things to do in Dunmow after visiting, why not take a look around the independent shops on the High Street, enjoy some pottery painting at @chameleoncafedunmow or visit the ducks at the Doctor's Pond.
