Harriers make history.

Lou Greenwood made a little bit of history at the weekend as she became the first female to play senior men’s cricket in the Lancashire League – and only the second to do so for the club.

Lou made her debut for the third team against Enfield at Dill Hall Lane and made an impact making four with the bat and taking a catch of the bowling of Jason Kayley to remove one of Enfield’s most dangerous batsman in a losing effort as the hosts won by six wickets.

Harriers Vs Feniscowles.

Saturday morning started off with a softball game against Feniscowles Ladies team. It was a very close game with a tumble of wickets for both teams, an amazing 6 for Sandra & 2 new players having a go at softball.
The match was drawn at 250 runs each.

Despite the weather the Harriers played away to Nelson Cricket Club tonight in a friendly softball game.
A great game was played by all players & it was a close game.

Harriers batted first & scored 274 for 5.
Nelson scored 282 for 5.
Nelson won by 8 runs.

Wickets were taken by Amelia Sima x 2, Caitlin Loudon x 2 & Lou Greenwood x 1.

Massive thank you also needs to be extended to our guest players Gill & Megan.

Congratulations to our Hawks Academy U18s, who last night secured the LJCL U18 West Division 1 title.

Following victories over Enfield, Lowerhouse, Burnley and Clitheroe, last night’s win at home against Darwen made it 5 from 5 meaning we have an unassailable lead at the top of the table.

Congratulations to all who have played this season.

Harriers played a friendly tonight against Nelson ladies.

Some fantastic individual performances worth mentioning…Caitlin’s early wickets, Sandra’s batting (and for soldiering on after her whack in the face), Sharon solid behind the stumps.
Stand out player was Amelia. An absolutely superb catch and her fielding in general was class, saving numerous balls heading for the boundary and boy could they hit the ball

Our 2nd XI have won the JW Lees Lancs League Junior Cup.

Littleborough 192-8

Littleborough batted first, Phill Sutcliffe (41) Jamie Roche (41) and Ben Williamson (36) helping them to 192-8. Paul Newton taking 5-49.

In response, we lost Nathan Sheridan with the score on 4, but Kasim Masood (39) and Miles Corish put on 105 for the second wicket.

Two quick wickets of Kasim Masood and Allan Armer followed, before an unbroken partnership of 82 between Miles Corish (76*) and Siraj Ahmed (42*) saw us reach the target in the 46th over.

What a great game of cricket!

Credit to Littleborough who were right in the game throughout, and to their army of followers for helping to create a real atmosphere throughout.

Harriers Vs Settle

The Harriers played at home this morning against Settle Ladies.
Ahead of the 2nd teams JW Lees final.

A great game was played by everyone with some really good cricket on show from both sides.

Harriers - 273 - 5
Settle - 255 - 9

Wickets were taken by - Darcy Roscoe - 3, Lou Greenwood - 2 and 1 wicket each for Jess Ross, Sharon Whittaker, Jen Jackson & Katie Banks.

& Sharon Whittaker debut as wicket keeper.

Calling all women and girls! Come and have a go at cricket, have fun and a good laugh on our upcoming Cricket Festival. Teams of 6 to play in a fun and friendly softball tournament on Saturday 18th September with prosecco and food packages available. To keep in the spirit of encouraging WaGs to try a new sport and to have good fun, all teams must have one player who is under 16 and one who has never played before. Message to book!
