Truth - Although traditionally your Best Man would male, these days it's more about having a best friend by your side to support you throughout your wedding day.

In years gone by it was the Best Man's role to make sure the bride didn't escape before the wedding ceremony!

Wedding Myth or Truth?

'It's unlucky to see your partner before the wedding ceremony.'

Myth - This superstition dates back to the times when arranged marriages were common, and the bride and groom were not allowed to see each other until they were married, to prevent them from changing their minds.

There's no right or wrong with this and whilst many couples still choose to keep to this tradition others like to reassurance of seeing each other beforehand.

***Meet the Wedding Co-ordinator***

Wendy has over 10 years experience as an events and wedding co-ordinator, almost 4 of which have been at our beautiful Town Hall.

We asked her a few questions about here role...

Q - What do you love the most about your job?
A - That's an easy one - It's the honour and privilege of being involved in planning someone's special day, whether it's a birthday, anniversary or wedding! And, it goes without saying that I simply love working at this stunning venue!

Q - What's has been your favourite event?
A - That's impossible to answer as I love the diversity of each and every function I coordinate and getting to know new people.

Q - What are your hobbies?
A - I enjoy 'treading the boards' with local Am Dram theatre groups and walking my gorgeous dogs.

Q - Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
A - I have appeared as an extra and in small cameo roles in films and TV series.

On Thursday evening we had the pleasure, once again, of hosting the Civic Society Town Centre Awards.

There were some very worthy finalists including national and independent businesses which were commended for the presentation of their premises and shop fronts.
