Since Paul Flynn's Playlist went down so well I have dug out an old playlist from my Bay Hotel days with DJ Scott "Shady" McCready.

This one is from 18th July 1992. Thirty years ago this weekend. It feels like a lifetime ago but the tunes are still rocking.

I will make sure I have all of them this Saturday night. There's a couple of hip hop tracks that I only owned on vinyl and I don't have all the Acid Jazz stuff (that was more Shady's vibe). It said at the top, in Scott's handwriting, A sheer "classic night". He wasn't exaggerating

Guest DJ this evening is none other than local music ‘head’ Paul Flynn who is establishing a real name for himself on the festivak circuit.

Tonight will be more like a “McD Night” (yes, i‘m a brand 😂).

I asked Paul to pick ten tracks and here’s his response;

Ten Tracks

So ten tracks from the late 80s/Early 90s. I avoided anything from the Britpop era, because when I think about you (McD) these are some of the songs that I only heard once I started going to the places where you were DJing. You inadvertently (and I won’t be alone here) turned out to be a huge influence on my tastes and musical education.

1. JULIAN COPE - World Shut Your Mouth (seems more apt now than ever)
2. THE PRIMITIVES - Crash (2m30s of pop perfection)
3. RIDE - OX4 (still makes me swoon)
4. THE LIGHTNING SEEDS - Pure (best pop song ever)
5. MANIC STREET PREACHERS - Little Baby Nothing (you forget how good some of the songs were on Generation Terrorists)
6. THE MOCK TURTLES - Can You Dig It? (the baseline could be a song in itself)
7. REBEL MC (ft. DOUBLE TROUBLE) - Street Tuff (just try not to smile while this is on)
8. TEENAGE FANCLUB - The Concept (a classic)
9. PRIMAL SCREAM -Come Together (Terry Farley mix) (10 mins of blissed out magic)
10. ELECTRONIC - Get The Message

So if you’re out why not get along and support him, whether it’s a whole night or just a passing pint.

See you next Saturday,

McD
