We did two things differently with my beloved 'Limelight Paniculata' hydrangea this year...

🌱We waited till Spring (as always) but then pruned it pretty radically, I'd been too scared to previously, in case we lost a year's blooms.
Tony took it down to about 3 foot high, instead of JUST removing the dried heads like I've been doing in past years.

ALSO,
🌱I've been giving it a weekly feed, just bog standard tomato food, but those two things combined have rewarded us with HUGE heads... Way bigger than last year ( see the inset pic from this time last year)

🌱🌱😬 Please don't cut back ALL hydrangeas this way... They're all divas and don't all behave the same... Check with your variety before you give it the chop... You don't want to be chopping away too much too early if yours is not a Limelight.

Look at those heads!!!

Had a little pootle around the Antiques fair at the Lincolnshire showground yesterday. I normally enjoy that sort of thing, I love a bit of pre-loved. But there was literally nothing that tempted me.
That changed though when we stopped off at Landmark and I saw the cake counter 😬

I'm sorry to be a soppy Ga***rd again but a brief trip out to the Grand Design Kitchens & Bedrooms Open Day with my bestie Alison Hilder , a successful trip to the tip with no queue, a countryside walk, a couple of flower deliveries, some tribute work to help my future Monday self, a dresses colouring book, new felt tips and a bottle of chilled Saturday afternoon fizz ( thankyou Marcus and Michelle!!!) makes for a PERFECT day, AND I've had foody treats dropped off at my back door from my friend Martin!!!

When I showed you guys recently a pic of my purple toadflax that's popped up all over this summer, Nicole Thijs in Belgium offered to send me seeds of her PINK toadflax 🩷

It arrived, it's scattered, I'm now waiting patiently 😁👌👌

We couldn't get to the Confetti Fields of Pershore this year, so I couldn't ponce through the fields like I have the last three years. I bought myself these pink and blue delphs from my fabulous wholesaler to console.
I might actually be able to part with one or two stems if I close my eyes and add them very quickly to your bouquets 🤣

Nobody in their right mind would watch an 8 minute video about creating a Cottage Style Bouquet From one supermarket bunch of flowers, but it was a One Take Only kinda sitch!!
AND my foundation has gone all patchy so that's all I can see.
Bloody marketing, it's not easy ya know!!!!

When I order a 'new to me' flower in a colour I've never had before it's fair to say I get a bit giddy when I pair it with something I already adore. The 'Aqua Prosecco' Germini ( I had to try them with that name!!🍾🥂) teams so perfectly with a current favorite of mine, the Apricot 'Miss Piggy'. I'm in love 😍

I can happily report that Ellie was home 🥰💐👌

A frustration I have is that I take pictures of every tribute I send out but although on my workbench and then my table they look huge, dense and full, I can never quite capture their full look on camera, whether I video it or take stills. So please take my word for it that this was blooming heavy, full and densely packed with tons of cottage garden favourites, and masses of stems from my own cutting garden...and always a clump or two of Rosemary, which is for Remembrance I've listed a few, can you spot all these? Roses Delphiniums Statice Scented Stocks Gladioli Veronicastrum Lavender Rosemary Solidago Trailing Ivy Hypericum Poppy seed heads Crocosmia Gerbera Hydrangeas Clematis Ruscus Portuguese Laurel Pussy willow And tons more... I could only just lift it yo the car x

Discount Home & Garden Centre had some absolutely superb lupins and foxgloves, hydrangeas and salvia in stock yesterday, thanks so much Steve these are all crackalacking quality and I'm beside myself with joy to add these to my 'Formal Cottage' border!! Get down to Wilton Road today before the thunderstorms begin!

I created this bouquet using 60% of the content from my cutting garden, the buddleia, the delphinium, the Alchemilla Mollis, to present to lovely Chelle Hough on their one year anniversary of having Buzz Cafe , a hidden gem of an eatery on the Efactor Enterprise Village at King Edward Street Grimsby. Her outside catering is also doing really well, I can vouch for the softness of her buns I devoured plenty last night!! Unfortunately the pic we got of me presenting the flowers was sh*te and out of focus so I'll put that in the comments so you can get the gist 🤣😬
