September 8th: The Smugglers
We reopen after the summer break with local group The Smugglers.
Initially together during the early nineties, life took The Smugglers in different directions and away from playing together as a band. After a time apart, they reunited in 2009, and from the first few faltering attempts at playing and singing in Robin Hood's Bay Folk club, they now have a love of playing and singing folk tunes to whomever will listen.
They are a band working hard to give voice to traditional songs that have been handed down through the generations, and contemporary folk songs from the more recent writers.

Sunday July 7th: Patakas
Note the change of date because of the football
‘Exceptionally talented’ brothers, Joe and Will Sartin, launched in June their first recording as Patakas (pronounced pa : ta : kus), a new duo bursting on to the English folk scene. With Joe’s sublime voice and guitar playing and Will’s dexterous mandolin, the brothers beautifully and skilfully express the music-making and folk tradition that run through the very core of their family. Joe & Will are the sons of the late Paul Sartin (Belshazzar's Feast, Faustus). As a family one of the greatest songs for them to sing is Fiddlers Green (written by our very own John Conolly).

Sunday June 16th: Nick Dow Cancelled
Unfortunately we are very sorry to say that we have had to cancel the Nick Dow night once again, mainly because of the England football match being shown in the adjoining room which may create a lot of noise and spoil an excellent evening. In its place we will be having a zoom night.

Hunter Muskett is an acoustic/electric 3-piece playing distinctive original songs in a folky, bluesy sometimes Americana vein. Terry Hiscock - acoustic and electric guitars, slide guitar, piano, vocals, Doug Morter - acoustic and electric guitars, vocals, Rog Trevitt - bass guitar, mandolin, vocals. Originally formed in 1969 they played at home and abroad until 1974 producing two, now collectable, albums: Every Time You Move with bassist Danny Thompson and then with Keith Relf of the Yardbirds who produced the album Hunter Muskett.
Doug Morter went on to carve out a career as the ‘go-to’ vocalist/guitarist of the folk-rock scene collaborating with the Albion Band, Maddy Prior, Jerry Donahue, and Richard Digance among many others. Since reforming in 2010 Hunter Muskett now tour again and have released two albums of new material: That Was Then This Is Now and Unafraid and Sober. Terry's song, "Silver Coin", is still performed by Archie Fisher and Barbara Dickson as well as floor singers everywhere.

Don't miss our guests this evening, Lynne Heraud & Pat Turner

Sunday April 7th: Lynne Heraud & Pat Turner
At The Spider's Web, Carr Lane, Grimsby DN32 8LN
Members £10.00, Non-members £12.00 8pm start (Doors open 7.30pm)

Individually, and in combination with a variety of well-known singers and bands, Lynne and Pat have both served long apprenticeships on the shop-floor of folk music. Between them they play guitar, recorder, English concertina and a variety of whistles (including swanee, policeman's and referee's), list a spoons workshop in their hall of fame, and are not in the least averse to dressing up or dancing when a song requires it. They both agree, however, that their voices are their most important instruments. Their resulting style is a unique blend of stunning song and harmony, and a humour which takes their audience on a roller-coaster ride - "everything from high tragedy to ingenious s**t in glorious vocal harmony!"
