It’s soirée time again! If you’re in the Hastings area on the evening of Friday 25th October would love to welcome you to their HQ for a catch up, a glass of Prosecco – and to browse a whole lot of slippers and more!

You’ll get a sneak peek browse of all MAKU’s new stock before it goes online – and a special 15% discount on new batches should you wish to purchase. We’ll have a rainbow of slippers, reversible gilets, hats, scarves, bags, cushion covers and more... all made from leather industry discards 🌱🌱
Last year’s event was such a lovely evening – please remember spaces are limited and we were at capacity in 2023 so do reserve your free place as soon as possible via our website events page or link in stories 😌🌱🌱

Next up: As the Sustainable Fashion Week Hastings Hub, the DEPO will be hosting two days of events... There’s a pop-up market with sustainable clothing brands, vintage fashion and more where latest MAKU slippers, bags etc will also be available. Then there are making & mending workshops... And last but not least, a fabulous panel discussion on ‘Sustainability Tribes’. Our four very inspiring speakers include:

Siobhan Wilson, pioneer of ethical and sustainable fashion and founder of in Brighton’s Lanes

Kate Taylor Smith, Director of a zero waste charity

Anna Kilpatrick, advocate for second hand fashion and ‘the joy of enough’ .needing.new

Ness Newman – fashion designer and sustainability-through-sewing advocate

Come along to find out how we can all help change things for the better through how we choose and care for our garments. The line-up’s not to be missed and our limited spaces are selling fast… programme and booking details are all on our new website events page. Hope you can make it!

Our next event is not far off…
The MAKU DEPO SALE is on Saturday 27 April. There will be lots more MAKU slipper samples, seconds and offers on new slipper batches too – with prices starting at £15.
Online stock, including slippers, cushion covers, throws and reversible gilets will be available, plus leather jackets and waistcoats too… all made from leather industry discards 🌱🌱 And… there will also be a colourful range of leather hides for your creative projects – do hope you can stop by to take a look 😉

At the same time, the ever-popular Hastings Makers Market will be taking place .waterworksroad just round the corner. As always, the market will be brimming with great local makers and indie businesses plus delicious eats on offer too.
Yet yet another fabulous reason to head to Hastings this Saturday!

Our DEPO Looking bright in the Spring sunshine ☀️

The DEPO is a bright, airy, recently refurbished open plan space at the north end of Queens Road. It is opposite Alexandra Park on the junction with St Helens Road and Elphinstone Road.

The DEPO is a great venue for regular classes and one-off workshops. Do get in touch via DM if you’d like more details.

We hosted another great art club at the DEPO last Saturday… the day’s theme was ‘cats’ and all had fun drawing them, then creating fantastic lions – whilst learning about oil pastels, watercolour and giving paper shape along the way 🦁🎉
