🎨 Not only are we celebrating 's homecoming, but also the return home of the famed 'Rainbow Portrait' of Queen Elizabeth I to the iconic Marble Hall.

🌈 The painting, which depicts an ageless monarch, has returned to the Queen's childhood residence at Hatfield House. After traveling to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Cleveland Museum of Art in 2022 and 2023, the portrait underwent a “meticulous conservation,” by Nicole Ryder, who cleaned and corrected minor losses to the subject matter for more than a year. The portrait’s display in Hatfield House’s Marble Hall, built in 1611.

Thank you to Jaques Samuel Pianos for your support at this year’s festival. We are lucky to have a Bechstein piano both at last night’s sold out Gala concert and for the coming festival in October. The new Bechstein Trio (Priya Mitchell, Emmanuel Despax and Guy Johnston) will have their first performance of the season on the opening night of the festival. You’ll be able to hear them each month as artists in residence at the new Bechstein Hall opening in London in October.
